I am still trying to find a real mexican restaurant NY. Still have not found ONE yet. My family and I had this today. I was dissapointed once again. Let me start with service, i just want to say it was not all there. More like unorganized. The woman that took our order kept forgeting stuff, so we kept bothering younger gentlemen to bring it for us because we didnt see the woman for a long while. Then when she had showed up back to our table after we were done eating i had ask for another piña colada which never came. When we had paid then she said i forgot the piña colada. I was about to say you also forgot the cup of ice we asked for and all the other stuff that comes with our food. Now the food... I had asked for a torta de asada and licuado de mango, she said they didnt have both...... The food was not REAL mexican food. The rice tasted more like something that came out of a box with seasoning packet and microwave instructions. (My daughter did not eat after first try) We did not order beans but by the look of the rice im guessing it would look like canned refried beans. (blender looking beans). Again like el pueblano restaurant real tacos should be made on tacos size tortillas not the regular size tortilla. The meat (carne asada) is not supposed to be cut in squares, NY need a real mexican carnicería to properly cut carne asada meat and a trip south to learn some real mexican food cooking. It upsets me that people from different places of the world try this food and in their minds this is how our food really is, which its not. This is more like fast food restaurant style food. If y'all enjoy this food, just wait til you try the real thing. You will love it. My one star goes to my virgin piña colada, it was delicious. That is why i had asked for a second one which never arrived. I will not be coming here again.
As I will continue on my search for a real mexican restaurant cause i feel like im stuck in...
Read moreMexican cuisine is a personal favorite. Yet, the experience shared at Los Abuelos Restaurant was disappointing. For instance, the service staff was unhelpful to my party. We sat for twenty minutes without having our drink request taken. There were negative interactions between 4 staff members. To begin, I looked onto another table being served. I locked eyes with the waiter, as to say: "we haven't been served." He left then a waitress came out to place a couple at their table. I told her out out that we have not been waited upon. After another several minutes, a waiter comes to take the couple's order then ours. Mind you, we arrived first. The next offense was when the couple received their drinks, their order is correct. However, at outlr table, my sister's lemonade is forgotten. I didn't even take a sip of the water because the glass looked unclean. My sister's glass had a crushed bug- see in the photos below. Another wait staff came outside to fiddle with a decoration that toppled over. When my sister clearly asked for his attention- he ignored her a few times before coming over. She asked again for her lemonade. A different waiter came out to clean tables and my other sister asked for a to go cup. The plastic cup was much cleaner; yet, the water tasted poor. Admittedly, when the lemonade eventually came, it wasn't poor in taste. By the time the food came out, I did not have high expectations. If the hospitality is lacking, then how good is the food? Los Abuelos provided mediocre rice and beans on the side. Further, the mole sauce lacks key ingredients: radishes and onions. The chicken was questionable and I was concerned that I would be sick. Luckily, I didn't get a stomach ache. Unfortunately, for my sister who was the only one who ate her lettuce, she was sick for a total of three days after eating here. Overall, Los Abuelos does a disservice to their customers and the integrity of...
Read moreI only gave it one star because I HAVE TOO in order to write a review!! I went to this place this afternoon with my best friend. When we entered the waiter already had an attitude when we asked to sit outside. My friend asked what were in the ingredients to the sangria margarita mix drink they have he said to her with an attitude that it had margarita and sangria sarcastically lol. I then ordered the chicken beef and shrimp fajita when it came out it only came with rice refried beans and tortillas no sauce no guacamole NO CILANTRO!! I asked can I get sauce and guacamole he told me it didn’t come with it I then asked for a side and he said I had to order an appetizer to get that I never heard of fajitas with no sauce guacamole sour cream I tried to eat it and it was absolutely disgusting I couldn’t even chew the steak I told him I don’t like it he proceeded to argue with me that not all Mexican food is the same and I still had to pay but the meal! I’m like umm NO SIR I’M NOT! I asked to speak with someone he said NO! At this point we left! This is NOT AN AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant. He seemed a little prejudice from the start if you ask me! Then no complimentary chips and salsa should of been the RED FLAG!! Disgusting DISGUSTING DISGUSTING!! Drive up the road to el coyote or cafe maya or anywhere just not here FOR THE REAL...
