My husband and I decided to have dinner without the kids, but a fun date night, and we decided on Pizza, but we wanted something different as far as Pizza goes. I googled places nearby and Capri came up. I checked out the menu, which looks fabulous, but looks could be deceiving. We decided to give it a go. I live about 15 minutes out of Ossining, by the way. There is a dining area at this pizzeria. It's a very friendly and family oriented place. Our waiter was very nice, polite and pleasant the whole time. I cannot remember his name, and that was only because when he said it, sure enough, on cue, the kids were calling and I was distracted. The waiter brought us a "bread basket" but it was perfect Italiano bread with butter and olive oil with various olives and a piece of sun-dried tomato in it. The bread was nice and hot, the olive oil was so delicious, mouthwatering. We ordered buffalo wings for appetizers and individual pizzas for our entrees. My husband ordered a plain cheese and I ordered a chicken pesto pie. The buffalo wings, for me, were perfect. They were not drenched in buffalo sauce. The sauce itself was but a coating, that was good for me because I like to eat wings with a crispy skin and tender meat and these wings were perfection, very tasty. It's how wings should be made. Thinking about it makes me want more. My husband and I share food for tasting and the cheese slice was so good, the sauce that they use has the perfect herbs and right amount of everything. I wonder if they make their sauce. I hope they do, if not, it still tasted good. the chicken pesto was amazing. I had a Stella Artois to go along with my pizza, my husband had a soda and it felt as all was right with the world. The individual pizza is big. You will have leftovers. It worked out for us because we were able to take it home to our children and they enjoyed the pizzas as well. I highly...
Read moreThis has been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to NY 11 years ago. Recently I had the Penne San Gennero and the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza ( 2 of my favorites). Both were chock filled with peppers and onions with the penne having an abundance of sausage and the pizza plenty of chipped steak. Both orders fed me for several meals and were outstanding! I ordered and picked up both of these today and to my surprise there were almost no onions or peppers in either and I had to search for the sausage in the penne and I had a problem finding the steak on the pizza and there was no salad provided with the penne meal. I have never written a review before but was so disappointed I had to document it. To be fair the food still was delicious but skimpy and my order taker was kind enough to add the extra bread (to die for) that I requested ( that is why I had to give at least 3 stars but wish it could have been 5). I hope this was just a fluke because this is my favorite place to get...
Read moreOh, man, what a treat it is to stop here for a slice. Good luck deciding on what you want because the display case is positively overflowing with freshly made specialty pies of a creative spirit and very generous topping amounts. You want chicken scarpariello? It's already on a slice, they'll heat it up for you in 5. Same goes for like 10 other ridiculously delicious specialty toppings, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Service was warm, attentive but unintrusive, very "small town new york" and the attitude matches the dining room perfectly (homey and old-fashioned but not creepy or dusty). I understand this is a second generation local pizza maker, his father's place is a staple in Croton (Capricio's, also good). Prices are reasonable, even for the crazy specialty slices. It's absolutely hilarious to me that there's a Domino's across the street because this right here is real pizza...
