Tabasco Mexican Grill & Deli — Restaurant in Town of Ossining

My family and I were in Ossining thinking about seeing my daughter. The visit didn't happen so we said let's have lunch. My daughter was always raving about the food at Tabasco's. She said the establishment will let you build an order to the customers taste. She also said that the food is very fresh and definitely authentic. Well, we decided to stay for lunch and we were not disappointed.

The restaurant seemed to be a replica of a small taverna in Mexico.. Artworks decorated the walls the surface areas. The pottery butterflies festooned throughout the restaurant were brilliant. So many colors. Just beautiful. By the way, the objects were for sale. I am sure that they do a booming business on the items alone. Sitting in the restaurant with the beautiful Mexican artwork definitely added to the ambiance. The only thing missing was Mexican music playing in the background that would have added even more to the ambiance.

Now to get to the food because that is what is why we came. The food was exceptional. My sister ordered cheese quesadillas that were nestled in between the pico de gallo and guacamole. She also ordered chips with salsa. The chips were hand fried and the salsa tasted homemade. I ordered a bowl that came with shredded chipotle chicken, white rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, onions, and black beans. The portion was amazing. I had to take most of it home because I could not finish it. The same for my sister's quesadillas. The food was exquisite. Not too, spicy nor bland. It was just right.

I should mention that the owner was a lovely woman who was assisted by her more than capable son, Junior. Such nice and friendly people. They were ready to offer assistance when we requested additional sauce, etc. We were told that in the near future they planned on renovating. I just hope that the renovation does not take away from the feeling of being in a small taverna in a small Mexican town.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic and fresh Mexican food. Oh, I failed to mention that we came from the Bronx and Manhattan to eat here. It was a well worth trip. My daughter sure knows how to pick scrumptious places and she hit a home run with Tabasco. We will definitely visit this restaurant again and again! You should all try it for yourselves. First time ordering food, got nachos, a bowl and street corn. Bowl was super greasy, nachos were soggy, but the corn was delicious. Corn was so good, a few days later I went back and ordered 3 more orders of it, this time I was very disappointed and unsatisfied. My first time getting the corn, the one order came with 2 corn on the cob. My second time, I got 3 orders of corn thinking I’d be receiving 6 pieces of corn but low and behold when I received my food, there were only 3 pieces of corn. When I asked the employee about this, I was told that I was given 2 pieces of corn the first time because it was “mini corn”. I know very well that they were normal sized pieces of corn and even so both times I ordered the same exact item so I should’ve received the same both times, not 2 of this supposed “mini corn” one time and then only 1 piece of I guess regular corn the next time. If this is the case, then how can I order the so called “mini corn” every time. Prices are too high for the quality of food that they provide and not worth the aggravation. Never...

So so so so so good. Luckily I live really close. First time here and definitely will be back. So far the traditional style tacos are ON POINT, pastor being my personal favorite. My wife got the regular American style ground beef tacos in a crispy they're also very good. Empanadas are REALLY tasty and crispy as well. Habanero sauce is bangin!

Update after second order through GrubHub. I have yet to be disappointed. So amazing! Like so good I keep talking to myself about. I'm going to have to work my way through the whole menu.
