Deluxe Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Town of Ossining

I’ve been searching for a good spot nearby that serves quality oxtails, and based on the photos online, I really thought I found one at Deluxe Restaurant Bar & Grill (231 ½ S. Highland Ave., Briarcliff, NY). Unfortunately, what I got was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in a long time.

I was excited when I picked up my plate — it looked promising — but the excitement ended the moment I took the first bite. The oxtails were rubbery and tough, as if they’d been boiled and forgotten. The gravy had absolutely no flavor — just brown liquid sitting on top of a mountain of rice. For about $23–$25, I received five sad pieces of oxtail and a ton of filler.

I noticed they have a 4.3-star rating on Google, but with only 24 reviews since they’ve opened, it’s pretty clear most of those are from friends, family, or staff. There’s no way the food I was served could earn those stars honestly.

If you’re craving authentic, tender, flavorful oxtails, do yourself a favor — keep looking. My search definitely continues, because I won’t be ordering from...

I really wanted to support this place, but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. Everything was drenched in oil, making it almost inedible. The meat was tasteless and greasy with no real seasoning or flavor. I sampled a bit before ordering, but felt bad since I was the only customer and the server was just sitting on her phone when I walked in, so I decided to purchase anyway.

After trying the food, I was so appalled by how bad it was that I actually went back inside to ask to speak with the owner. The server then told me that she herself was the owner, Tracy. She did apologize and admitted the food was oily and not tasting great, but she didn’t offer me an alternative, a replacement, or any real solution. I found her response very unsensitive and dismissive, especially given that these plates are not cheap.

I truly hope she takes my feedback seriously, because I was expecting a much higher standard of food. As it stands, I would not recommend this...

Second time coming here, the food is absolutely delicious. Ive been to many Jamaican restaurants all over Westchester and this is by far the best hands down. And their prices are very very fair. Im not even from the area but i make sure i come here whenever in the area. The girl behind the register is super sweet and polite, a very professional young lady.
