Went to return my old scientific Atlantic DVR box as these will become deactivated in January 2024. Was given a new Samsung box and a USB buffer to pause live TV. Got home and when I turned on the box it says rewind buffer is not activated and call an 800#. Did that and spent 15 minutes on the phone. I was out when I called. Was told they needed the MAC address for the cable box to resolve the issue. I was told someone would call me back in an hour. Never got a return call. So again I call the 800#. Was transferred to tech support box was rebooted. Still didn't work. I was told go back to the optimum store and get a new box. Went back to the store and was told by the rep that there was nothing wrong with the box that for some reason the DVR service which I was previously paying for was removed from my account. The store rep added it back to my account and said it should work now. Got home and still not working. Getting a prompt to upgrade to multi Room DVR service. The store rep was nice but I am now back on the phone with optimum tech support rebooted the box 3 times and still not working. What should have been a simple process turned out to be a real pain in the A*#. And a waste of time. I have been dissatisfied with optimum customer service and will be switching to Verizon FiOS. Read moreI want to give an excellent review to the staff inside this store....but the Optimum customer service and setup is just horrible. It had taken me over one hour and two phone calls just to cancel my Internet service. The very nice, friendly staff are unable to cancel your Internet service in store. You are required to call, wait on hold, and then I had to talk / convince three additional people over 40+ minutes that I wanted to disconnect my Internet. This telephone customer service and lengthy cancellation process was so bad that I cannot see any reason to even consider optimum for anything Internet or mobile in the future. Putting in my screen shot of the time it had taken me to simply disconnect.....we are a FIOS family now, saving $20/month on our Internet and hope to never deal with the horrible telephone customer service people again. Read moreDuring installation in August the installer, who was in my attic, stepped through the ceiling in my bedroom. He was fine, but he put a big hole in the ceiling. I have tried multiple, multiple times since then to get Optimum out to repair it. All I ever get is " someone will call you back." No one ever does. For three months this has been going on. Terrible service. Would never recommend them.
TWO WEEK UPDATE: In response to my post I was contacted by someone at Brand Reviews who wrote that they would reach out to the field team at Optimum to get the repairs done as soon as possible. Still no contact from Optimum.None. They damage your home...
