In the neighborhood, kids wanted pizza / pasta. Ordered calamari friti, eggplant rollatini, and the grandpa pie where any other pizzeria would call it a grandma pie.

Grandpa Pie - 10/10. Any other pizzeria, this is a grandma pie. Their grandma has onions and breadcrumbs, which is a grandpa by other pizzerias. Straight to the point, this pizza is amazing. Great flavor. Seasoned perfectly, right amount of sauce, mozzarella, great crust. We devoured this pie. This is a must order. We would come back for the pizza alone.

Calamari friti 7/10 - the large pieces are fried and battered perfectly. Soft and tender. 10/10. The smaller pieces, they shouldn’t serve it, it was tough and hard 3/10. Gave the kids the good large pieces while the adults ate the thin very tough leftovers and the tentacles. A lots of tentacles, never seen so many in a calamari dish. The tentacles were decent, 7/10. No choice, we were too hungry and nothing else served yet, we finished it. If wasn’t too hungry, wouldn’t eat the thin ones at all, that bad.

Eggplant rollatini 6/10. Wouldn’t order this again. The ricotta filling is bland, no flavor. Everything else is great 9.5/10 but the ricotta ruined the dish.

From the moment my girlfriend and I walked into Carmela’s, we were treated like family. The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel genuinely welcome, and their friendliness really made the experience unforgettable.
