As someone who has dined at Jiang Nan’s Flushing location multiple times, I walked into their Syosset branch expecting the same level of quality. Unfortunately, the experience was a letdown—aside from their reliably good Peking duck.
Most of the other dishes were underwhelming. The Barramundi fish was especially disappointing. The manager claimed it was close to two pounds, but that’s simply not true. There wasn’t enough fish to even make a full portion—which likely explains why they offer additional condiments (at extra cost) to compensate. It’s frankly insulting to argue otherwise.
The wine list is another weak point. Whether it’s happy hour or not, pricing $6–$10 retail wines at $38–$54 is unreasonable. At that range, they could and should be offering better-quality wines. Instead, it feels like a markup strategy disconnected from value.
As for service—when I asked for a silver spoon, the waiter informed me that none were available, aside from the standard ceramic Chinese soup spoon. Again, it’s a small detail, but it reflects a lack of attention to dining standards that are expected at this price point.

Read moreThis is the 1st time we were trying this restaurant and it was surprisingly good! We thought it would be just an overpriced high end’s restaurant and not expecting much from it. The Peking duck was amazing, we only ordered 1/2 order with the duck bone soup(extra), both the Peking duck and the soup were amazingly good. There were 10 wraps of the Peking duck and still have some duck left on the plate after we were done with the wraps. The waitress also gave us wet wipes and plastic gloves for the Peking duck, it was very helpful and not get our hands dirty! We also ordered the aged pickle sauce striped Bass with the standard dish option, it was the least spicy 🌶️ on the menu ( the waitress did warned us about it), it was extremely spicy. I don’t think the standard dish option(extra) is necessarily as it is already have enough ingredients in it. It would had been better if it wasn’t so spicy! The portions was very big! The Sir fried beef with scallion ❤️ so delicious, portion wasn’t big but it was so good! Overall we were so full and really enjoyed our dinner, service was very good too!
