I donāt think you understand how grateful I am that this Pelicana opened minutes from my house. I moved to Plainview several months ago after spending my entire life in Queens, the culinary Mecca of NY, and figuratively was dying for quality and fresh Korean fried chicken that didnāt require a 60-75 minute round trip. Enter, Pelicana. Iāve been here a handful of times since they opened, and Iāve had just as good of an experience as I had in Flushing.
There is a certain āmadā competitor in the area, but their ingredient quality and prep quality just donāt compare. It is an art to keep chicken crispy while drenched in a honey glaze.
Iāve even met the owners of this location, and theyāre always super attentive whenever we eat in and the staff as a whole do everything they can to take care of you and make sure your orders are served in a timely manner.
They tend to get very busy with both dine-in customers and takeout orders (because, again, the quality and freshness), so make sure to give yourself a few more minutes.
itās always super super clean and well-decorated, which is the Korean-American norm, so thatās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe chicken here is delicious! We usually go for the original flavor and then add the spicy sweet sauce on the side ā itās the perfect combo. The chicken is super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just the way we like it. If youāre expecting big KFC-sized pieces, just know the chicken here is a bit smaller, but the flavor definitely makes up for it.
A whole chicken is a good size for two people to share, especially if youāre planning to get sides or something sweet afterward. Speaking of sweet ā donāt leave without trying their sweet fry dough! Itās lightly fried, covered in sugar, and absolutely addicting. Itās one of those simple treats that hits the spot every time. š
The place is a nice casual spot to grab a bite with friends or family. Itās not fancy, but itās all about the food. Everything weāve tried so far has been great, and we always find ourselves coming back when weāre craving Korean-style fried chicken. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait if itās busy ā but itās worth it. Definitely recommend trying it out if you...

My experience at this Plainview location was decent, but there was room for improvement for sure. The service was pretty good, but they couldn't do any substitutions, so that was a little odd. Originally, I wanted to order a combo, but since they ran out of buns and couldn't sub anything, no combo. I ended up going with the half and half tradional wings and a side of fries. The spicy wings were pretty spicy. The soy garlic were my favorite. The fries were nice and crunchy, and the parmesan on them added a great flavor.
What needs improvement is the stock. They ran out of a few things that night, and from what other patrons told me, that was common.
This is so close to home that I'll be back again. The food...
