Just walked out of this place because of a bad experience I had with my husband. I was in the mood for Thai food after going to the gym, so we decided to head over here. Iâve always ordered carry out from here but today my husband and I decided to dine in for the first time since we had the day off from work. Upon walking in no one was there to greet and seat anybody. Finally after 10 minutes of not being noticed a woman who worked there noticed us after another person walked in. She blatantly ignored my husband and I and asked the lady behind us âhow many?â I said to her âexcuse me we were here firstâ and she gives me and my husband a death stare. Without saying anything to us she tells the person behind us very nicely âone secondâ and again without saying a word and still giving us the death stare takes us to a table. I wanted to give this lady the benefit of doubt. Maybe she thought the person behind us was with us cause we were all Asian? But when the lady behind us tells you 2 and there are 4 of us standing there you should realize we are all not together and either correct your mistake or at least apologize for the mixup. A simple sorry would have been acceptable. But nope, nothing, not a word, just a stare. My husband and I were so shocked, surprised and upset that we walked out. I donât know if you judged us cause we were in our gym clothes and not dressed nice enough or something else but either way you donât treat customers like this. Plus your hostess herself was not dressed any better than us. Customer service and customer courtesy goes a long way. We walked over to a nicer restaurant next door and they treated us with respect regardless of how we were dressed or whatever your problem was with us. Iâve had better Thai meals in better restaurants than yours and this place is just close to where we live thatâs the only reason why we chose it. We will not be returning here and will actively tell everyone we know to avoid your restaurant. Your food is...
Read moreSaturday dinner for two couples at Sawasdee Thai Elevated in Plainview. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking in the evening. The decor is clean and modern (although we all noticed how hard the chairs were after our 3-hour gab fest). We started with Laotian beer (a bit light for my taste, but nice, and there were a number of selections), and shared two unique and delicious appetizers: vegetable dumplings (unexpected shape and flavors) and "Golden Bags" (a mixture of chicken and vegetables lightly fried in a crisp dough pouch). My excellent roast duck curry entree was creatively prepared, and they were very accommodating when I asked them to omit the pineapple. The pad Thai was one of the better versions of that dish that I have tasted. The four of us shared a slice of very good mango cheesecake to finish the meal. I'd agree with the restaurant's motto: "Not your neighborhood Thai." I look forward to returning.
In late December, I wrote about my first trip to Sawasdee Thai Elevated in Plainview, and concluded my comments by saying that I looked forward to returning. A friend commented that we should meet there next time, and that happened last evening for two couples who hadnât dined together in 2 years (TSRC helps friends get together!). Our February experience happily was consistent with our first time (and these friends have been there a number of times). My green curry dish (shrimp) was very good , and a bit spicier than at most L.I. Thai restaurants, which pleased my palate (they offer to adjust the spice to your taste, but I was curious to see how they did it without my input). I used my Foodie Card for the first time (thank you, Neil Foster), and it was seamless (pardon the pun). The restaurant owners, a married couple, are hardworking, sincere, and aim to please....
Read moreI went here the other day with my friend for her birthday. The waitress from start to end seemed very disorganized and frantic. Though I understand it might have been more busy than usual for them, it felt very all over the place. We ordered entrees and thai ice teas as well but we didn't get our drinks till after our food came. The food was decent. However my issue was when my friend asked if there was a free dessert for birthdays and was willing to show proof of her birthday for it to be free. The waitress said yes we have and when we said okay then well take that, she also took our bill away which I was confused. After bringing the fried ice cream out and pouring the alcoholic fire on it, it left the outer tasting only of alcohol and thus very unpleasant. My issue was she brought back the bill and charged us for this. When my friend said she thought it was free because she had said the word 'free' about 3 times she said no its not you have to pay unless you reserve the day before and talk to the owner. I did not want to cause trouble so I paid the bill but I feel that was somewhat deceitful. I have no problem with spending the $9 (which was not worth it) if my friend wanted but its the principle of sticking to your word. My friend did not enjoy the dessert and I could have used that money to buy her something she actually enjoyed. Even if she made the mistake of misunderstanding or not listening, we were clear and she should have solved it on her end. On top of this I noticed later she was not wearing shoes but only black socks which was sort of unappealing in a restaurant. Overall, food is okay but customer service was upsetting. This should not happen and not on someone's...
