If I could give negative stars I would. I have never, in my entire life, had as bad of an experience overall, as I have had here. We spent over $70 pp PREPAID at the cottage for undercooked, frozen, lack-there-of food. After taking care of a very sick baby, this being my first time at a restaurant for what is supposed to be a lovely first Mother's Day outing, I was beyond mortified. First, when you walk in and give the hostess your reservation number, she rushed you off to the side and told you to wait. There was no room to wait because everyone was waiting. Not sure why, because there were more open tables than not. I was feeding my baby and was rudely told to move to the side to wait. (There really was no room.) After waiting for 30 mins we finally got a table and waited to be greeted. After we waited for that, we went up to make a plate, and under no exaggeration, there were maybe 4 chaffing dishes occupied with workers and some of the 4 dishes even had almost no food. The only food available was a hot dog station with french fries, disgusting chicken tenders, 4 slices of ham that literally were so dry it could have been out there since the night before, as well as one tray of pene ala vodka. I figured they were transitioning to bring out more food. You would think that because they advertised they would have all of the food hot ready to serve as this is a buffet. To sum this post up, after being there for well over 2 hours, every guest in there was complaining about the situation, waiting over an hour for hot water for tea, there was barely any replenishment of food. Over $70 per PERSON for chicken fingers, undercooked shrimp, hot dogs that weren't even ready and the worst chicken I've ever had in my life, I was so infuriated I took my baby and sat outside. I was beyond embarrassed I asked my family to come here for what was supposed to be a beautiful holiday. Working in the restaurant business myself for years, I can look past the dirty tables waiting to get cleaned, flies landing on the table, slow service, but for the price, I have never been more infuriated over an experience in my life. I could have taken the price for one person, ordered 4 pies of pizza, and hosted in my back yard for a better experience. In fact, I had to go back to my house and host my family, and we ordered pizza because we all left starving. What a huge disappointment being a first time mom wanting a beautiful day to celebrate your baby being healthy. I didn't even have high expectations, I was just looking forward to being in public, enjoying my family, finally celebrating being a mom, with...
Read moreI used Milleridge as my wedding venue last year, and what a disaster it was with the photograph sets who were used and recommended by them. The photographers did not use the photo list I supplied them, they did not get the photos I requested, they did not get any photos of my husband and I both looking at the camera. Our pictures are horrendous. The videographer made an inappropriate comment about my father and I doing a first look, then they continued to set up us backwards… dad had to walk towards me with his hand over his eyes outside in the grass…completely ridiculous. The photography company actually asked me if I thought this was the photographers first time which I replied yes, because it was completely unprofessional and I nonsensical. Even an employee at the Milleridge mentioned something to a bridesmaid about the photographers not taking advantage of the grounds and why they were sticking to this one spot. I hid these photos from my family and friends for about 7 months after receiving them, maybe longer. I also purchased photoshop to edit the photos myself so I can put together a thank you for my guests. Truly disappointing. After receiving the photos and reaching out I asked for a partial refund and they offered to do a re-shoot, we couldn’t agree on a date plus I had gained weight after the wedding and my dress ripped so it just wasn’t meant to be. Plus, the moment was over. How am I supposed to have my hair and makeup done again? I was going to have to pay for my husband to rent his tux again, because they failed? They promised to make me book, and I told them I couldn’t pick photos because I was so unhappy with them and asked them to pick the photos and send to me for approval.. they did not. I asked them to pick one photo they think I should hang in my home…they did not. No one told us when dinner was served, no one told us when dessert was served. They did not seat us together to ensure we ate. They did not prevent boat-loads of people coming into the bridal suite either. Even the photo booth had started off with the wrong names and date on it.
The cottage was beautiful, the dj was decent, the cocktail hour was delicious, the main courses were horrendous, the photographer/videographer were ATROCIOUS, and I could not have been more disappointed in the company. Another greedy company, just looking...
Read moreDON’T BOOK AN EVENT AT THE MILLERIDGE INN, JERICHO, NY The surprise party planned for my husband turned into an igloo party. It was 20°F and windy outside. In the room it was barely 61°F with the heat on. Apparently the broken fireplace flue (which they knew about before the party started) filled the room with cold wind so friends sitting by the fireplace were freezing. The menu cards were missing from the table and to finish the night, a lopsided birthday cake made in their own bakery was served. The banquet person I set up the party with, Amanda, was never to be seen again after I paid in cash. Then the day of the party I was calling to add 2 more people for the party and she was nowhere to be found. I finally found Adam and he added the people. When I went back after the party she was not there again so we told Adam what had happened and he said he would call back in a couple of days after he checked on what happened. We called him 6 days later. He told us he had to send it to corporate and they would get back to me. Days later, an unprofessional corporate person from the Dover Group named Elizabeth (no last name given to us nor would she give us the owner's information) told me that it was my responsibility to have requested a room change during the party, really? They knew the flue was broken and it was cold but somehow it was my fault for not asking a room change? Elizabeth took no responsibility whatsoever for what went wrong nor did she apologize. When asked about the missing menu cards as per the contract, no reply. Same response when i asked her what the 2% administrative fee was for. She was so nasty and rude and should not be dealing with the customers.
The wait staff and the restaurant manager Freddy were professional and very friendly. Freddy gave me brunch for 2 for the horrific cake that should never have been sent from their bakery to be served. Yet, Elizabeth told us the brunches were given as compensation for the party not just the cake and that's it- almost implying I was not being truthful. That's not what Freddy told us. Have your party elsewhere; you'll save the 2% administration fee, headaches and lies. Apparently Dover Group must not care about good customer satisfaction if they have people like Elizabeth there. Not even an...
