Heenan's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Town of Pomfret

My brother and I stopped at Heenan's for a beer a few years ago. It was busy, we made our way to the bar. The bartenders (both young ladies) seemed to ignore us for a good 10 to 15 minutes while taking orders from other patrons who had clearly come up to the bar after us. One of the bartenders finally took our drink order (and my money before getting our drinks, which I thought was odd). We noticed that she immediately started taking other patrons orders before bringing our drinks. After a few minutes, we got her attention and asked if she forgot our order. She stated that she hadn't taken our order or our money. I asked to speak to the owner. He came over, he was extremely rude. He basically called us liars. After going back and forth for a few minutes, he went to the register, pulled out a 5 dollar bill, balled it up and threw it at us (we had given the bartender a $20). We couldn't believe it. There were even people sitting at the bar that had witnessed us giving money to the bartender and told him so. He didn't care. We haven't been back since.

Update 11/19/23. Bar owner says that I have the wrong bar. That, of course, is not true. I'm from Westfield NY, 20 minutes from Fredonia. I'm pretty sure I know which bar we were in. Instead of learning from this situation, the owner continues to show his true colors. I wasn't going to name names, Shaun.

Update* 5/22/24. I have no reason to call, Shaun. I don't need an apology and I don't need the $15 that I was shorted. My entire reason for posting a review is to warn people that are strangers to the area or your bar what they might encounter if they visit your establishment....

Been to this place a handful of times and service is incredible. The bartender's are outgoing and at least 1 was funny. She just went with things. If I lived in this town this would be my hang place. The only thing I wanted to bring up is got to get a functioning jukebox or I mentioned to them if they invested in the AMI music app (on Google play) as I couldn't remember what it was called at the time,but it is a thing in some bars now so people can play from their phones what they want to hear.Its cool.Much like a jukebox,but you can sit at the bar and choose from your phone rather than stand in a middle of a room. Went to the bar to celebrate a birthday. At first the bar was nice and clean, we had 2 tabs open for a few people. Went to close the tabs and both fell under 20 dollars, we were never told that there is a minimum closing tab... which they cant do illegal in New York. Unfortunately this bar wont be...
