I had dinner here on a Sunday night. The food we ordered was pretty good; I especially liked the brussels sprout appetizer. Prices were fair for the items we ordered. Many items on the menu are marketed as "MP," and I did not inquire. Based on other reviews here, I suspect they are the overpriced items.
The service could have been better, unfortunately. Our apps took a. while to come out of the kitchen (which wasn't a huge deal), and we did get an apology for the long wait. Bread and butter were forgotten, which would have been nice as we waited for our apps, and once the manager realized she brought the bread seconds before our entrees came. Our server mixed two orders at our table, so the sides for one entree were placed with the other entree (no big deal, but during the ordering process, she did not write anything down, and we had to remind her of our order a few times as she got mixed up, and we all could have predicted that she wouldn't have gotten it to the kitchen correctly). One of my party ordered the goat cheese wontons as her entree (usually an app), which was not delivered with the other entrees, and we assumed it would come shortly. It did not, and we had to ask for it after waiting a few minutes. We did not complain at all, and when the bill came, they had taken our drink orders (ice teas) off of the bill, which I thought was a nice way to recognize our inconveniences.... at least, I think they did this on purpose, but maybe the server also just forgot to add it to our bill, which wouldn't surprise me either.
The blatant pro-republicanism really turned me off on display at the restaurant. Several political pamphlets were taped up on the front entrance, and a portrait of Trump was proudly displayed in the hall near the restrooms. It doesn't match my political ideology, and that's fine, but when I want to relax and enjoy an evening, I don't need reminders of divisive politics. This could be a draw for people of similar political thinking, but it had the opposite effect and is a repellent for me. The owner is, of course, free to do as they please, but I'd recommend keeping your politics and your business separated. For me, this is the straw that ensures that I won't return.
Lastly, to comment on the ambiance - it is a nicely decorated and cozy/warm setting. The inside setting seems like the perfect place to take a date. The outside is surprisingly bad and doesn't fit the restaurant's character. It is in a little plaza next to a giant beer store. To be honest, we almost drove away when we arrived but double-checked the photos on google and the menu on the restaurant website before deciding to go in... don't judge this book...
Read moreWhen we are looking for that special place with just the right combination of ambiance, classiness and delicious food, Crew always comes to mind first. I literally have never had one bad thing...drink, appy, entree, or dessert. You can sit at the bar and mingle with the regulars, or sit right up at the kitchen bar and watch them cook in front of you. There's even a private room in the back if you're looking for a more romantic destination.
You can start off the evening with one of 6 different flavored mimosas, or if you are like me and prefer something a little stronger, let me suggest the "Behind Those Hazel Eyes" cocktail, filled with chocolate, vanilla and just the right amount of booze. For appetizers, they have a good amount of seafood selections, but I prefer either the chicken satay or the cheese empanadas. My sister-in-law prefers the vegetarian Crispy Brussel Sprouts...and I have to admit, they're delicious. They also have really good salads (the best caesar in the area), and a killer burger.
For entrees, my two favorites are the Ragu Bolognese over rigatoni, which by my standards is second only to my wife's version, and the Filet Mignon, served with ridiculously good truffled potato croquettes. My mother-in-law always gets the Grilled Salmon...with nary a complaint. The Black Angus Steak Frites are also very popular and are served with crazy good herb-seasoned fries.
If you can make it to dessert, try the Creme Brulee or the NY Cheesecake with a decaf cappucino...a perfect way to end...
Read moreWent here about a week ago and have been debating whether or not to add a review. So here goes my review!
In all honesty the appetizers were not bad. We had the spinach dip and the Asian chicken salad which was good. The amaretto sour was disappointing. What made it worse, the waitress kindly took the drink back had the bartender re-make it. She went on to tell me that THIS TIME the bartender used disaronno! It still was horrible. In any rate, why would the bartender make a drink with low quality ingredients in the first place? We even told our waitress that it was our first time there!
My chosen main course was the salmon. Not cooked medium as I requested and the mashed potatoes were drenched in salt! My husband’s fries were drowned in salt as well. The manger was very pleasant and removed the salmon dish and made more fries sans salt for my husband. He offered another dish on the house.
Primarily I declined due to the staff members talking about my husband and I directly in front us since we first walked in! What’s worse they had a “crew member “with barely any clothes on staring at my husband every single time she decided to walk by our table to the front door!! What nonsense! She had to have passed our table 20+ times for no other reason but to stare at my husband every single time! Icing on the cake: I suppose the person that spoke to us as we were leaving, was a manager/owner was obviously drunk, told us to have a good evening! SMH you can’t make...
