The Dutchess Diner is among my list of top notch Greek owned restaurants in Dutchess County. Their menu has breakfast, lunch and dinner meals so you can eat whichever you choose no matter the time of day or night. There's a lot of American food to choose from so if you don't like Greek food you will still be able to find something that you do like to eat. The menu is in a binder format that's big in size and consists of several pages with lots of meal, dessert and beverage options. By the way, yes, they do sell alcoholic drinks too. This diner keeps some of its desserts stored in a covered see-thru encasement to display apple pie, eclair pastries, etc.. See attached photos of some of the aforementioned baked goodies that I've posted to Google. So when you see the outside of the diner it looks good enough but when you go inside it's fancy. Not what you would expect. It's been upgraded and renovated over the years. There's tables with booths and tables with chairs. Surprisingly there's juke boxes on the wall by the booths in the restaurant. All the juke boxes play CDs as it is more modern technology with an old fashioned facade. You can play 2 songs for 50 cents. The music 🎶 choices are mostly oldies with some current songs and artists. There's another side of the diner on the back end that has a different feel to it. It's hard to explain in words but it's a good thing. Depending on availability of seats and wait staff assigned to particular sections, you will be directed to either side. Anyway, the food is pleasing to my palate and apparently others who go to this place regularly and repeatedly agree. The staff are all good at their job (the cook, waitors, waitresses, the dishwasher, cashier) are friendly and courteous to customers. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other diners. In this place, you pay your bill up front by the cashier. The owner makes an effort to greet customers which I respect. It's a nice personal touch. One last thing to tell you is that the diner is kept clean and that includes...
Read moreHello , I'm Dave from Wappinger N.Y. Just wanted to say a few things about the Dutchess Diner in Poughkeepsie New York . The owners of the Dutchess Diner are Gus , Mary , Are truly special people that have always treated my family and I just like family . My family and I have lived in Dutchess County almost thirty years and have dined out just about every restaurant . If your looking for a five star experience on variety and top quality food you love then wait no longer . The exterior and interior of the restaurant is flawless and the staff members are always cleaning to maintain that five star appearance. If you dine in , order out or within a five mile radius they will deliver to you . When the last time you and your family dined out and the server said I'm sorry but we don't have that . That has happened to us many times. WOW !! Just ask your server at the Dutchess Diner and they will ask Gus , Mary , Jimmy and if they have the ingredients the chefs will whip it right up. It's just like coming home for a holiday meal with the love of family . If you took time to read this review and decide to dine at the Dutchess Diner . Just tell them Dave said their food is amazing . Thanks again Gus, Mary, Jimmy and staff for the five star experience we...
Read moreAbout 8:00 Friday night I called in for a take out order 3 eggs, scrambled side of bacon, home, fries, and toast. I also asked for a chicken salad sandwich. I should have known to check the bag. Even know I repeated the order to Melissa on the phone and I still had to ask did she put grape jelly in my bag and the answer was oh I’m sorry I forgot I’ll get it right away. Well when I got home I had a chicken salad sandwich. I got three eggs scrambled instead of bacon I got burnt ham and no toast I called and I asked for Melissa, she’s the one I actually answered the phone again and I told her what happened and she says if I want come back for the bacon and toast now I live 20 minutes away why would I come back for bacon and toast? Meanwhile the eggs and home fries were going to be ice cold and she rudely hung up on me because she doesn’t care so please when you do take out at the ditches diner always check because your order will be screwed up shame on me. This was the second time I thought maybe a year had passed and I didn’t need to check the order but shame on me. To top it off, the diner was empty maybe 10...
