K & D Deli — Restaurant in Town of Poughkeepsie

It is unfortunate that my recent experience has changed my opinion about K&D Deli. The food is great, and my family loves it. However, the service, or absolute lack of it, that I received on June 9th is inexcusable.

My wife asked if I could pick up a deli sandwich for her on the way home. The place that was on my way was listed as closed, so I looked up K&D. It was out of my way, but they were listed as open until 7pm.

I arrived at 6:40. There was a person walking in ahead of me, and we both went to the order counter. A man was cleaning the grill, so I made a mental note that I would only order cold sandwiches.

The other customer and I waited for the employee to finish, expecting that he would take our order. Instead, he ignored us for a while, and then turned our way. He spoke to us in a tone as if to imply that he thought we were pretty stupid. What he said was, “we’re closing up.” But his body language and facial expression indicated that he was really annoyed with us.

I started to explain that the restaurant is listed as open until 7:00, both on the internet and on the sign outside, to which he turned away and walked into the back room before I finished the sentence.

The cashier, who appeared very uncomfortable with what had just happened, tried to save face for the deli by saying, “we are still open.” But it was very clear that the man behind the counter was not going to make any sandwiches.

I can understand that it is possible that situations can arise that may require a place to close early. What I can’t understand is the condescension and rudeness with which I was treated. A simple, “sorry, but we had to close down early,” would have made the...

I've been a patron at this exact location on a semi regular basis for well over a decade.. even pushing almost 20 years. While I can't say for sure it's changed hands in the last year or 2, I would venture to guess that's what's happened because it's taken a server downturn. My last 4 or 5 visits have been sub par but today when I went I paid $17.50 for 2 egg sandwiches, one of which had a hashbrown, and a coffee. And while I understand everything has gone up In cost, it really hits harder when the food quality has gone so far down... and when you factor in that I had to turn my truck and trailer around to return because my sandwich had ketchup on it, which I never asked for and do not eat, im motivated to leave an honest review so that others may not spend almost $20 on a very disappointing breakfast and experience.

Normally I have a little more patience for a wrong order, I order in a particular fashion and understand that when you say "with salt, and pepper" sometimes they just think about the ketchup too and add it, but when I did return, there was not an attitude of customer satisfaction and care, but one of...

Ordered a sausage, bacon egg and cheese salt pepper ketchup hot sauce on a everything bagel toasted with butter through door dash, with special instructions on how I wanted the sandwich. They Delivered the sandwich as a poppy seed bagel, with just sausage. Called the deli themselves, told them I received a wrong made sandwich, and they replied with " ok, what do you want me to do?" I replied saying I wanted the correct sandwich I ordered, then she handed the phone to Doordash, and that gentleman couldn't help me in either way. He said i can come pick up another sandwich, but I couldn't cause I'm at work. Then he told me to call Monday. How does that make sense? He said he didn't know what he can do to help me. In my opinion, this is very very poor service! Through both establishments. Never ordering from you guys again. A refund would of been a great suggestion for the wrong order from the gentleman or lady, considering I spent 22 bucks on a breakfast sandwich and a coffee to have delivered 😑 What a great way to spend my Thursday morning !
