my wife and i had a reservation and got there on time, the wait was ok (2min to be seated) the thing that hit me when we came in was seeing a person that was older then us sitting on the stairs waiting to get a table :( .
the service was prompt they got our order 3 appetizers one main dish. we got 2 out of the 3 appetizers within 5 min and the 3rd seem to have been lost for about 30 min ? my wife got the egg roles (looks like 1 big one that was split in to 2 medium size eggrolls) It was tasty I got the fries in gravy that seem to have been over salted and I had to drinking a full cup off water to get that salty taste out , the 3rd appetizer was the slider trio hat we waited for about 20+ min to get when we got them the buns felt extra warm like they were frozen and re heated making it hard to hold them in our hands and once they cooled off they got crusty hard and not fun nor tasteful to eat (the meat in the burger was good
Read moreThe restaurant simply does not earn the astronomical prices it charges. The decor is somewhere between rustic-chic and just plain old neglected/too cheap to decorate more. The dishware is not ceramic. It is plastic, made in China. The service was fine. One of our requests (putting the steak back on the grill so that it wasn't raw) was met with an eyeroll. I got the impression this reaction was more out of frustration with the frequency of this request from the clientele than out of frustration with our specific request. They start you out with bread for the table served with insipid olive oil and actually quite good garlic confit. The rolls were very sweet. We ordered a meat pizza (East Side, Chicago style crust) and a 20 oz bone-in ribeye. The meat pizza cost nearly $40 and was good. Some of the meat tasted overcooked; the crust tasted sweet, very much like it was made from the same dough as the table bread was made out of. The 20 oz bone-in ribete steak was billed to us by the waiter as the softest as the softest steak available. As suggested before, the steak came out about 8 minutes after we ordered it and, unsurprisingly, it was not even rare the first time around. I asked them to please return it so it could reach the medium-rare we ordered. When it came back, it was properly medium-rare. But it was very difficult to cut and chew because of how tough the meat was and overcooked the outside was. It also didn't taste like much. They probably forgot to salt it. We're never getting back those wasted $90. For dessert we ordered churro doughnuts. They were good. $19, three doughnuts. All in all, because the food was edible and sometimes good, the place was mostly clean, and the service was generally decent, Fireside gets three stars. It might have received a fourth if the prices were better matched to the...
Read moreThis was our special occasion spot since Fireside opened. From the atmosphere, to the service and the great food, Fireside is where we send all our friends and family to. We went for my birthday on a Thursday night with the dining room less than half full, and this was the exact opposite experience. The food quality has gone down, and the service was a joke. The pizza was still fine for the appetizer (although it’s been better), but the steak was tasteless, dry and unappealing. The Au Jus the provided was basically just a pool of fat and added nothing to the steak’s flavor. Fireside used to use hand cut French fries, but I received a heaping portion of frozen fries to go with the steak. My wife’s portion of ribs were mostly bone, and her onion rings she said tasted off. I tried to contact Fireside to resolve, but no response from them.
We then tried to get dessert for my wife and I for my birthday. We were handed dessert menus and 25 minutes later nobody would take our order. The restaurant that Thursday night was half empty and the servers were laughing and joking with each other. The chef was even out there instead of in the kitchen just speaking and hanging out with the front of house. We tried multiple times to flag down someone, but to no avail. I then got up and went to the front to pay as we were there over two hours for slow and mediocre service, was left an apology and left. Unless we see drastic improvements to the new chef’s quality of food and the service, there’s no way we could ever come back. It’s sad as for almost 10 years, Fireside was our spot. I’ve been there since the beginning. Quality and care...
