My daughter, my wife and I walked in the restaurant, no body at the door, we took a table by the window and waited until a waitress a man at the door, she pointed out at table next to ours. A while later she went to that table but did not acknowledged us, so, we called her and he answer was: YES? NO hello, NO good afternoon or even how may I help you? We ordered an appetizer to share while we were awaiting for our 2 friends that were on they way to meet us there. Still no beverages were offer at this point. A ceviche was just left at the table, when we ordered we said that was to be share between the 3 of us, no sharing plates were giving. Our friends showed up, we were sitting for about 20 minutes, no body came. The restaurant was very slow, beside our table they only had a single man and a table of 2 across de room. The order was placed, 5 entrees that included soup or salad and a beverage. (That was described on the menu) The waitress never mentioned the beverages, we asked for and she placed them all in front of me, not to each of my guests. I had to pass them around. She did the same with the food, which by the way, very good. But the service was absolutely BAD, every time we needed something no body was around, we needed a second drink but we just gave up. We finished eating, and we waited and waited, until I aproached the counter, the 2 waitresses were seating behind the register. I asked for the check, and I gave ny credit card, even with my unhappiness with service I added a tip. When I got back to my table, I took a look to the copy of my bill, she already had add a 20% gratuity and never told me that, so she can get double tip. If I was you I will check my bill carefully before paying. There wasn't any manager, supervisor or owner to let know this mishap. Adding a tip and telling the...
Read moreWe dined here today Saturday July 16th. It was four of us: my husband, myself and our 13 and 11 year old kids. The food was average, nothing close to eating in Peru at all. I wouldn’t write anything positive or negative about this place but, I am because the server named Amarillis C input the gratuity in our bill, she stuck me a 20 percent. No matter if I was or not satisfied with her service. I never had that happen before unless we were a party of six or more which I would have been ok with but, not the case tonight. It feels like we were stereotyped for being hispanic (mind you, just like they are) and, assumed we won’t tip fairly and respectfully based on my looks. The staff looks as immigrant as I do, yet they stereotyped me. I questioned the server Amarillis C as to why she did this and she replied they charge the tip to everyone. That is so wrong as in the United States tips are to the discretion of the customer and, sounded like she was lying. I do tip 20 percent every time but I do it voluntarily and, to have it taken out of me arbitrarily was very offensive. If they do this to everyone maybe that’s the reason why this place was so empty on a Saturday night. Forcing guests to tip 20 percent is ending up hurting their business. Because of this I am not coming back and I’m making sure my friends and family know what happened to us so they don’t try this place either. Let the customer tip what we deem fair. American restaurants don’t do this to a party of four. Who do you think...
Read moreOur first time at Panka Peruvian, and what a terrific evening! We were going to a performance at the Capitol Theater a few doors away, allowed 2 hrs for a relaxing dinner, and we had just that. They have a full bar and serve well-executed drinks, v. good beer selection. Every dish we had was totally delicious: quality ingredients expertly prepared and beautifully presented. We started with baked scallops on shells.. never had anything like this before and beyond delish! My husband had the seafood paella, and I had the seafood risotto. I've never enjoyed a finer risotto, and hubby loved his paella. Folks at the next table saw my dish and my delight and ordered the same. Our server was attentive, patient, friendly and helpful... very warm and accommodating, even though the restaurant filled within an hour of our arrival and he was clearly running around and pushing to take everyone's orders and serve. He never lost his smile and courtesy. We shared a lovely flan for dessert, with espresso. Everything was great. We can't wait to bring friends to...
