La Flor De Jalisco Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Rye

Its a shame that I have to leave such a negative review for La Flor- They are an amazing bakery as far as taste and quality. I have done business with them in the past for family events.

It’s unfortunate that i have to come on a public platform to expose how unfair they have treated a family referral.

A relative of mine ordered a cake about 2 months ago and left a $300 deposit for her daughters baby shower event.

Unfortunately, her daughter ended up losing her child a week before the baby shower. I reached out to the bakery after learning that they would only accommodate my aunt - a credit of baked goods or a cake but no cash because of “new policies”. (Keep in mind the cake was not even baked yet.)

On the phone, I called to clarify That this was in-fact the issue. The lady on the phone expressed to me that their was a miscommunication and that they tried reaching out to my aunt in regards to a refund of the cash. She expressed her condolences and assured me that “a loss of life is more important than money”. Kindly, I responded with a thank you in relief that we had come to an understanding.

I reached out to my aunt and let her know she can go ahead and retrieve her funds. She arrives- only to receive a note stating The opposite of what we discussed, with today’s date. The note states: $190 of baked goods credit no cash. They denied having said what they did and sent my aunt on her...

This bakery is too good to be true. They have so many different breads, cakes, treats. Everything is delicious but you will never forgive yourself if you miss out on the dulce de leche tres leches cake. Also LOVE their chocolate covered strawberries. The prices are low for the quality they deliver. It is a truly authentic Mexican bakery. And they are always SO nice and offer me a little free sample of something every time. I needed a birthday cake for my mom, and chose the pineapple coconut tres leches cake (!!!!) and told them flowers in bright colors would be great. Look at what they did, it was so beautiful, covered in flowers and hearts and butterflies! And omg the taste of the cake was outrageous. Highly recommend this bakery if you want to impress someone. Some good and some bad. I asked for a specialty cake that I saw online and was pleasantly surprised that they were able to do it with short notice - only 3 days. Other bakeries either couldn't do it or needed much more time. They also did a great job. The cake looked exactly as it did in the photo!

I did have 2 areas of disappointment; first, is customer service. Some of them really need to learn how to talk to customers and show respect. I was chastised by some guy because I forgot my copy of the receipt at home when I went to pick up the cake. I was scolded in front of others and told I was making them waste time and delaying them tending to other customers. Really? It took 2 minutes to "find" their copy. They are pretty disorganized.
