Update - This place has become a staple for date nights recently and it's always a great time with great food. Recently we went out for my girlfriends birthday and there was a Mariachi Band that began singing when we got into the door and even serenaded us (talk about coincidence). By the way Wednesdays is when they do Mariachi for those wondering. Either way, the food is always fantastic. I highly suggest the Churrasco for steak lovers. My girlfriend loves the Beer Battered Fish Tacos. It's a sage bet that anything you get will be great though! Highly suggest.
Edit:: I've gone and/or gotten take-out almost a dozen times now and the food has been consistently great, but two times my take-out order has been missing or had wrong items which has changed my service from 5 to 3 stars. I have to check my items thoroughly when handed to me (which is generally a large order) before I leave. I love this place but they need better communication and need to double check orders going out to ensure correct items also. It's very disappointing to look forward to eating an item and finding out that the items aren't correct.----‐------
I've seen this place dozens of times and but have never stopped in. On a whim (and in the mood for some tacos) I decided to order some food online and I was very surprised by how good the food was!
My girlfriend got the Shrimp Enchaladas which she absolutely loved. I ordered the Churrasco (my go to whenever it's on a menu) and some Korean tacos. We also shared the Guac and an order of Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. Everything was on point!
The tacos were flavorful and tasted very fresh even though the journey home was around a half hour. The Churrasco was incredible and cooked to a perfect medium. The Guacamole was fresh and the notes of lime were just right (they even put fresh jalapeños on the side because I noted that my girlfriend doesn't do spicy well).
I was very surprised at how much I liked the food and I'm definitely going to...
Read moreThis restaurant has a lot of pluses. Immediately, once you walk through the doors, you feel as if you've been transported to Mexico. The artistry is incredible. Every piece has a story to tell. It's big and roomy with more than enough space between tables. Which I appreciate, especially during these semi/post covid days. The bathrooms are extremely clean. So, that's a big plus.
Now for what many of you are waiting to hear, the food. As soon as you sit down, you are greeted with tortilla chips and salsa. They are both very good. Their drinks are awesome. I advise you to taste the banana taquila. Believe me, you'll order another. Now, I'm not sure if my rating is biased because I'm a Hispanic. But in my opinion the food needs a improvement. The rice and beans are delicious, but for a Mexican restaurant, the tacos weren't great. They have the potential to be good, but they are skimpy on the meat. I've been there a few times because I wanted to be fair, but it has always been the same. On one of my visits, I ordered chicharron de pollo (I can't remember what they called it), but similar to fried chicken but really crispy, it's finger food size. I was truly disappointed. It was as if they opened up a store bought cheap bag of chicken fingers and just fried them, added sauce on the side, and charged me more than it was worth. Not to mention that the chicken felt gummy. On my last visit, I ordered steak Quesadilla, with only 3 tiny pieces of steak at the most.😞
With all that said, I will give it one more try because, as mentioned earlier, they have the potentiality to be a really great restaurant only if they make some minor changes. It's definitely a family, friendlyplace with the capacity of hosting large groups.
Wishing the best to the...
Read moreThis was my first time into this business since it was Cheeseburger in Paradise. Wow! What a huge change in decor. The motif fits the style and flavor of the food served. Excellent Mexican cuisine that is surely not going to disappoint.
Update: service and food remains consistant with our initial review. Love this place for Mexican cuisine. All based on Jalisco area of influence of Mexico.
First, starting with the extra fresh tortilla chips and salsa (with a kick) to tandem the the half price (on Mucho Mondays) Margarita pitchers. Margaritas served in large Patron bottles is a perfect compliment to not only the chips and salsa, but the extra fresh guacamole made for you at the table. Not an uncommon practice but it really adds a stylish touch, pre entreé. The entreés are, again, made fresh and the quality of the product shines through in presentation and taste. A symphony of flavor! I polished off dinner with a cup of really good coffee. It actually reminded me of Dark Sumatra Mandehling roast with a heavier earthy taste. If you know coffee bean, you will know exactly what I am referring to. To accompany the coffee, I tried the Tres Leches a fan favorite in many Mexican/Latino restaurants. Since this was my first time here, I had to be fair to do a soup to nuts review. All on point! And you know what? The bill was a lot less than I expected.
So, in conclusion, if you are in the Orange County NY area (Middletown), make a special point to visit this establishment. If they keep doing what they are doing, they will be around for a long time. Fine purveyors of Mexican vittles and spirits....
