We live near by and moved from the city a while ago and happy to see a good Indian restaurant. Atmosphere:⭐⭐⭐ It's pretty desolate around 7pm on a weekday, however I see they have a banquet hall so I assume it fills up over the weekend pretty well. Looked pretty much north Indian and had a mild dhaba vibe to it. They played good Punjabi raps of sidhu moose wala and it was hip! Service:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The service is pretty good. The waitress greeted us, took our order promptly, and brought us our order in accordance to our request. The waiter and waitress came and checked in on us regularly to ask if everything is satisfactory, however I would love to see the same service on the rush hour. Presentation:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The presentation of the tea was well done ✅. I appreciate the effort to serve tea authentically. Chicken 65 was served with no ketchup (I wish it was given on the side without asking for it as it is done in South India). Biryani was served with Rita, however I missed the onion & carrot salad with some lime on the side as it is supposed to be served. Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tea was outstanding 🤌, could taste the cinnamon and was robust. Chicken 65 lacked some spice. Biryani was alright, I guess I'll never get hyderabadi Kachi dum biryani, but I liked what they served. Overall:⭐⭐⭐⭐⅐ I would certainly comeback to taste the rest of the menu. Thank you for serving us last night.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place so I finally came. Yes there’s a lot of parking and the inside is big but the customer service is terrible.. I went on a Saturday around 1pm not many people in the restaurant so I thought it would be a great opportunity. They still had dishes on the table from the last party.. I order 2 Captain Morgan and Coke‘s and exactly how you see it in the photo is how they serviced it to me. It’s definitely missing 2 sips ($10 each) but okay let’s carry on. The fried fish nuggets were definitely delicious and the green sauce was amazing.. The lamb and rice was good and tender the extra sauce on the side is great. The mango shrimp and rice was not a good move. I had a whole bowl of sauce and 4 shrimps.. yes it taste like mango but not much flavor. The rice taste like it was uncle bens. I did enjoy the garlic naan bread. I wouldn’t come back due to the poor customer service. Also at the end of my bill they charged me $12 for each drink the lady said it was whisky in which it wasn’t. They did change it but how dare they over charge and not even fill my highball glass up. They probably do better with party’s, with the amount I spent at this restaurant I’m disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it.

I hate to say it, but this place really let me down last night. I don't know if ownership has changed, or if the cook was just really bad, but that was not the Saffron I know and love. The Lassoni Gobi normally is tossed in some kind of reddish sauce. Last night it was dark brown, just fried, not sure if they just forgot the sauce, or they've changed the recipe. It was not tasty. Also with the chicken kahlapuri the type of chicken they're using now is very inferior, and oddly enough, there was not as much spice as before. The person taking my order didn't even ask how spicy i wanted it, and it was bland compared to how I've had it before. These are 2 of my favorite dishes, and I didn't enjoy them at all. I'm not sure what's going on with this place, but I won't be going back if this is their new way of doing things.

I ordered take out here and it was the BEST Paneer Butter Masala I’ve ever had hands down! So much so that I’ve decided to figure out how to make it myself and invest time and money into making the best Paneer Butter Masala possible. The sauce was creamy, just lightly spicy, and had a wonderful sweetness to it. The onions were cooked through and did not leave a strong aftertaste. The paneer was just lightly golden too, I wish there were a few more pieces of paneer though. The garlic naan was fantastic and they gave a very decent portion of basmati rice with the masala. With tax and a tip it came to $20 even, not terrible especially for how delicious the meal was. I got 2 very large portioned meals from it so I’m overall very satisfied. Cannot recommend that dish enough!!! I want their chef to teach me their ways on this one.

Saffron is low key a local Indian gem in Middletown, NY. I love that when I come in sometimes it’s empty bc that lets me know I got there before the rush!! This place can fill up quickly! I’m here to talk about the most delicious way I’ve had cauliflower by far with the Gobi Manchurian. It reminds me of General Tsos Chicken from any Chinese Food spot and it’s drool worthy. Any of the naan breads on the menu slap and the mulligatawny soup is sooooo good. Tadka Dal is the yellow dish & I like mine spicy, they accommodate spice tolerance. I tried the Roti for the first time and it’s not better than a flaky roti from a Caribbean spot but it dipped in my dal well.

We have been coming here for years. Great food. Recommend the spicy lamb vindaloo, almond chicken, and of course the chicken tiki masala. Pair it with garlic naan and you have a meal worthy of a Sultan.
