The place and the atmosphere are both wonderful. The entree’s are delicious. We have been here more than once. Ok. We asked about the soups, if they were vegetarian stock, we were assured they were. My gf ordered the potato leek soup, it came with bacon. Idk how but my gf got almost halfway thru before noticing. I ate the rest as to not waste food, good soup. And I don’t have a problem with bacon. I ordered clams casino, not to my liking, but not enough to send it back. Also upon ordering our main meals, I asked our waitress what sort of lobster tail was on the menu as it was not stated. She replied, ‘A dead one’ and quickly informed me that she was joking. If I wasn’t so hungry at the time, I might’ve found that quip slightly amusing. I wound up having a chicken dish that was superb. My gf had the Chilean sea bass, which is the best we have tasted anywhere. My gf also ordered a second glass of wine and decided to stray from a Malbec to a Shiraz. The waitress promptly brought out a glass of Chianti which she thought my gf might try as they were out of Shiraz. Not given the choice beforehand of choosing and the sheer ridiculousness of it, it was sent back for another Malbec. The desserts are not made on premises but are nevertheless very good. The coffee is to be desired as to the amount of cream I was given in place of the milk that was brought out. I wondered if they could spare it? My gf asked for a plain glass of milk only. Upon taking two sips, she had a desire to bring it home. When we asked our waitress for a container to bring it home, she informed us there were none to be had. I asked if there weren’t any food containers to bring home leftovers? She said there weren’t any and that my gf should, ‘just chug it’ (the milk). I must admit, we both found that quip a bit amusing but absolutely tacky. We both went in to use the restrooms before leaving and asked at the bar for a container. We were given a soup container, but when we got outside our table had been swept clean. We did get some milk to take home in the container however, which was nice. Also, the over eager service was on the ready to take our plates away. Mine twice as I was eating a last bite, the one time with the waitress waiting on it. One consolation is that the soup was taken off the bill and dessert and coffee was on the house. Hopefully the Inn will get its act together upon our return if they will have us after...
Read moreDisappointed. Food, service, atmosphere all could have been better. Pasta dishes hit or miss. Mushroom soup was delish. If you're an old Italian you'll probably leave disappointed. Service was lacking from entering to exiting. It didn't seem like they were ready for us. No music. The hostess wasn't aware of our reservation, and when someone came to join us she told them we weren't there! The maitre d/manager was a gentleman, checked in and served, but the hostess/waitress was a drip. She didn't hold the door while coming in, and the path was snowy.
I've had better service in the evening on previous occasions than my most recent lunch. I've been a few times for special occasions, and enjoyed it, but truthfully I was trying too hard to love the food because of the (usually) nice atmosphere and service. The seafood was overcooked , calamari is okay but could be softer, apps could be better, and this time my salmon smelled like a foot, and the pasta so flavorless I didn't eat it. I'm not a picky person, and I usually speak up while there, but it was half okay in all respects and not everyone in my party spoke up until afterward. Despite presentation, we were disappointed. I feel badly leaving this review, but the last time I was there I left feeling saddened and guilty for suggesting an expensive disappointment. For people on a limited budget who want to treat themselves to a special meal now and then, I'd...
Read moreThis was a last minute selection for a Saturday evening dinner. While I thought our entrées were generally pretty tasty, in the end this is basically run-of-the-mill red sauce, Italian at a pretty high price for the area. The calamari appetizer that we shared was most likely frozen, and seemed to be a little well-done. two of us had the chicken Albonetti, which we enjoyed my husband had the short ribs which he enjoyed very much but at $38 it is really fully priced.
Also…We were told that the entrées came with potatoes and vegetables, but there were no vegetables served. There was another strange issue when we paid the bill, we were five people and one person was paying for three on his credit card and I was paying for two people on my credit card, but they couldn’t figure out how to handle it. The final insult is that they add a 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. Obviously in this day and age everybody pays with a credit card so it is pretty shady to add this on top of your final dinner bill. If your restaurant is performing that poorly, raise your prices a little bit to cover the cost of credit cards and don’t insult your customers with a surcharge.
Sorry to say, but this place seems like it’s on...
