Have been here now a few times and while the place is beautiful and the drinks are very good as well as the food there’s issues.

The seating is close as your chairs are bumping into the people behind you. They don’t use the lower level alcohol if you don’t ask as they’ll drive up the price using high end liquor. For example, my Rye Manhattan was made with Angels Envy at $28/drink. That’s theft The salt encrusted fish they said was to feed 3 to 6 people at $180. It wasn’t even a meal for 2 people, and when we told the owner he offered us the bones and rest of meat to take home! Several times! The fish wasn’t even going to be presented to us until we asked and they deboned it in the kitchen and brought out less than 16oz of fish on a platter. It was embarrassing

Luckily we ordered the Lamb too and while it tasted good it was maybe a 5 oz serving. Very small!

The menu is very confusing and I get it’s the vibe they’re going for but it doesn’t work. I’m sorry but if you’re charging top tier prices I expect no issues and if there are then do something about it! Again, we aren’t big eaters but for $180 and telling us it will feed 3 to 6 people, and it’s basically a meal for 1, maybe small meal for 2….. maybe throw some coffees in on the house and apologize?

Addendum: after careful consideration, a call from the owner, some misunderstandings and young new staff (however very professional) the owner John explained then issues which seemed very sincere and believable I would recommmend giving a try and if issues arise, doubtful, ask for the owner and he will make right. I understand these mistakes happen and some leeway for new restaurants are necessary. As stated above the food and drink...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If we could give 10 stars, we absolutely would.

We had the absolute honor of dining at House of Stefas in Millbrook, NY on opening night—something we wouldn’t have missed after following the meticulous, heartfelt journey of this restaurant’s creation over the past two years. And let us tell you: it. was. worth. the. wait.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was pure magic. We were seated at the Godfather Table in the dazzling Poseidon’s Palace Room, surrounded by a space so thoughtfully and artfully curated that it deserves its own standing ovation. Every single detail—from the lighting to the furniture to the way the room feels—is intentional, elegant, and rich with story. You can feel the love and vision that went into every inch.

The service? Impeccable. Our waiter, Andrew, was an absolute gem, and we were genuinely touched by how many team members—from hostesses to servers to the owners themselves—checked in on us and made sure our experience was flawless. You can’t teach hospitality like that. It’s lived and breathed by people who care.

Now, let’s talk about the food—because OH MY GOD. The swordfish ceviche was vibrant and fresh, the braised lamb pastitsio was a heavenly, comforting dream, and the pork souvlaki was bursting with smoky, perfectly balanced flavor. And the cocktails? Inventive, dangerously smooth, and unforgettable.

This isn’t just dinner—it’s theater, soul, beauty, and boldness on a plate and in a room. House of Stefas has immediately and undeniably set a new standard for destination dining in the Hudson Valley. Bravo to the entire team. We’ll be talking about this night forever—and already planning...

Where Elegance and Flavor Collide!

From the moment we stepped into this beautifully designed restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. The ambiance is refined yet inviting—modern elegance with just the right touch of Mediterranean charm. It’s the kind of place where every detail, from the lighting to the plating, has been thoughtfully considered. The menu is a seamless marriage of Greek tradition and American creativity. We started with the octopus and loukaniko, a surf and turf start to the evening if you will…and what a way to start! For the main course, I chose the pork souvlaki, a classic Greek entree that House of Stefan’s somehow made seem new and invigorating. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and bold flavor. The wine list deserves special mention, with an impressive selection of Greek wines that you rarely find stateside, alongside robust American vintages. Our sommelier was knowledgeable and genuinely passionate, making our pairing experience exceptional. Service was flawless—warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional. It’s rare to find a restaurant that manages to be both upscale and deeply welcoming, but this one nails it. Whether you're looking for a romantic night out or a culinary adventure with friends, this spot is a true gem. We’ll be back...

Date Night Voyage at House of Stefas. House of Stefas isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an immersive, full-sensory experience. The Food & Drink: The menu strikes a perfect balance: creative without being overwhelming, robust yet refined. Our highlights were the Dayboat Scallops, the Spring Salad, the Swordfish, and a Whipped desert that I wish were bottomless. Drinks didn’t disappoint either. A dirty martini for me and a sharp, bright margarita for my wife capped the meal. The Feeling: From the moment we walked in, it felt like arriving at a nostalgic family gathering. The staff wasn’t just friendly, they were genuinely welcoming in a way that’s rare. It wasn’t performative; it was personal. That energy completely shaped the night. The Details: The team behind House of Stefas was clearly born to build this place. Every design choice, every piece of decor, every inch of lighting, it all felt carefully considered. It’s a masterclass in hospitality, brand identity, and interior design. They didn’t just build a restaurant, they built a world.

Driven up from Westchester County twice in the past two weeks just to eat here, and we’re already talking about the next visit. House of Stefas has somehow managed to capture the nostalgic, home-cooked flavors of the meals my Yiayia used to make. This is the kind of food you’d be served in someone’s home in Greece. Where else can you find “spoon sweets” on a dessert menu? This is not your typical taverna with shaved gyro and soggy fries. The menu is impressively authentic, featuring regional dishes you almost never see outside of Greece. It even beats the high end Greek establishments of NYC. Every dish is spot on. And the space? Modern, fresh, and stylish without losing that welcoming, homey feel. The prices are NYC-level, but it’s well worth it for what you’re getting. Honestly, enjoy it now while it’s still under the radar… something tells me in a few weeks it’s going to be very hard to get a table!
