I give it one star because of attitude from the female proprietor, Dominika. She is rude! First, she took a long time to take our order because she was too engrossed in discussing the dessert with the customers seated directly next to us. The establishment charges a 4% service fee if using the common plastic currency. It’s extortion. Businesses write off those fees on income taxes.
My husband attempted to make reservation 2 days in advance where he had to leave a message. No one returned the call. I then called next day and was able to make the reservation. It never occurred to me to mention the first attempt. My husband finally gets the returned call the day after. Dominika became irate on the phone because she said my husband should’ve canceled that reservation instead of taking responsibility for not confirming it! Dominika then told my husband to not bother making future reservations because of an obvious misunderstanding. Let me say, her wish is our command! There are plenty of other restaurants we can take our business where it will be appreciated with a smile. And, the pricing is way overpriced. Our total meal with 15% gratuity was $127.93. We adjusted gratuity for the service fee. We will not pay...
Read moreI have never had slower service in my life. When we went in for my husbands birthday for our 730 reservation it took a server almost 20 minutes to come to our table for drink orders. We got our drinks in a some-what timely manor. I then had to flag down another server to take our dinner order. We did not get our entrees until about 930pm. I have worked in the restaurant/hospitality business for 11 years. I saw servers polishing silverware, and glassware and conversation. If it was busy I would not have complained because I do not like to complain (probably hard to believe from this review). The fact that we sat at 730 and did not leave until about 1045 for a 4 top is mind boggling to me. There was enough help and it was not busy. It was simply a lack of attention to guests because servers were too busy conversing or doing their side work to pay attention to their tables. The food was absolutely amazing, but if anyone goes there don't go there starving or thirsty because you will wait a while. (My husband even mentioned before we went that they're "known" for slow service and had me eat before we went.....) Please fix your...
Read moreThis has turned out to be our favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We live in Fishkill and have eaten in some of "the best," restaurants in the valley. Also, being native New Yorkers, we eat at great, no some of the best restaurants in Manhattan. The Millbrook Cafe is a FIND. The food here rivals some of the "best " restaurants in the Hudson Valley... and MANHATTAN. We've been to some of the best steak houses in Manhattan. Nothing... compares to the wood fire steak that is prepared in this restaurant. Also, their French onion soup is the best! Not salty. It is better than a the soup that we had in a 'renowned' French restaurant that we visited this summer in Manhattan. Let me tell you, if The Millbrook Cafe was in New York City, you'd have to reserve days in advance! It's that good. ...
