What a disappointment. My wife and I have been eating at The Atlantic Family Restaurant for many years. Other than feeling uncomfortable when the manager yells at his employees in front of everybody, we have never had anything negative to say. We even developed relationships with some of the waitresses. Well, Friday (2/4/22) that all changed. We ordered our usual, two beer-battered fish fries to go. When we got home, we discovered they were very small, over cooked and curled up. They looked like burned-out canoes. I immediately called the restaurant. The girl apologized and said there was no manager on duty. She took my name and number and assured me someone would contact me the next day. No one ever called. I waited till the following Friday (2/11/22) and went back to talk to the manager in person so we could get our fish fries replaced. Not only did I have pictures of the fish, but I also had phone recordings of my conversations with the waitress. He started out by denying he recognized her voice. Then, to my shock, he claimed the fish were mini fish fries and offered to replace them, but only if I paid the difference in price. I reminded him that we paid for full size fish fries and had the receipt. I also reminded him that we could not eat the ones we received because they were overcooked. He kept trying to justify why he should not have to replace them because he was losing money. He even tried to blame the waitress for not giving him the message last week. "How is that my fault?", I asked. Finally, after seeing his customers were starting to notice, he said "so what do you want?" Obviously he was not used to people he couldn't intimidate. I told him I wanted the two fish fries replaced. Looking very disgusted, he put his hands up and walked away. About 5 minutes later, a waitress came over and took my order. When she brought the food out, she was very nice and apologized. I thanked her but said the manager is the one who should have apologized. I asked his name and found out he is actually the owner! They call him Chris, but I believe his last name is Christofilopoulos. It's a shame, but he lost more than the cost of a couple fish-fries that day. Needless to say, we will never go to The Atlantic Family...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant for many years with my family once or twice a week for many years (if you are familiar with the Atlantic you might recognize my father as the older gentlman with me his heavy set son), and it has been a great place to go for an affordable meal especially later at night when most other places have closed down.
Today we took my elderly mother out for an early dinner at around 3PM. She ordered the Sirloin Steak and Fried Shrimp with home-fries. The waitress was kind of bossy making sure we knew that we were working on her schedule and she was not friendly at all when we stopped her to ask her for something like a drink refill, I just put it off as she was having a bad day. When my mother got to the medium rare steak, she couldn't even cut into it with a steak knife as if the meat had been boiled, so she thought she would send it back and ask for something to replace it with since it was too tough.
The server became very nasty and insisted that we could not send it back since the owner was not there. We asked her to cut the steak to see how tough it is and she scolded us to cut it ourselves as if it we were asking her to feed my mother or something, what an insult. She finally stormed off into the kitchen and you could hear her throw the plate with the steak on it against the wall. When the hostess came over to ask what happened we explained everything. The cook in the back said that the waitress should just let us replace the steak with something else, but at that point my father was rather angry with the waitresses attitude and we just asked for our check to go. The waitress then proceeded to insist that we order something to replace the steak. My father raised his voice and told her just to get the check and that we were never coming back there again after having been customers there for 15+ years.
I hope the owner sees this and does something to resolve...
Read moreI work for a business in Webster. Our office has ordered from this place in the past and the food was good. We ordered again on 2-25-25. Unfortunately the food this time was not good. I ordered Eggs Benedict but the English muffin was black (burnt) and the yolks were almost hard boiled. My co-worker ordered a steak quesadilla and requested medium rare temperature but got well done. I called the restaurant back and the waitress said "I only work here, you'll need to call back after 5 pm to speak with the owners." I said ok and called back at about 5:30. When I asked to speak to the owner I was given to the manager. He refused to let me speak to the owners. When I explained why I was calling he called me a liar. When I got angry with him for accusing me of lying he followed that up with "I'm not going to argue with you about this." I explained that I wasn't looking for a refund. I wanted someone to approach the cook and explain how poached eggs work. The fact that the cook used burnt English muffins on purpose is why I wanted to bring this to the attention of someone at the restaurant. Due to the behavior of the manager I will NEVER order anything from the Atlantic again. I understand that people can be rushed and can make mistakes. I wasn't prepared to hold this against the restaurant or to write a negative review. I do, however, hold the behavior of the manager against the Atlantic. You have now lost a semi-regular customer and that is all down to your manager. Apparently he is in the hostility business rather than the...
