My sister, mom, and I got take out from Taka House because it was close and we had been recommended it. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box and that basically was: a California Sushi Roll, teriyaki chicken dish, 3 small dumplings, an egg roll, and a salad. The sushi roll (which my mom ordered too) was delicious, as we agreed. It was very well prepared and the flavor was great. The teriyaki chicken was just baked chicken with some steamed veggies with teriyaki sauce dribbled on top… it genuinely wasn’t anything fancy and the meat was tender but it was just chicken pieces with small veggies and sauce. The dumplings and egg rolls were really cute and tasted very yummy! The salad with literally iceberg lettuce with this chunky orange sauce on it. It definitely wasn’t appealing to the eye but my sister ate it and enjoyed it. So overall from this experience I can say that the Sushi Roll was really, really good and I would have it again, the Chicken Teriyaki wasn’t anything amazing and was very basic so I wouldn’t order again but it wasn’t disgusting or anything. The dumplings and egg roll were really good so I would 💯 order that again, and the salad just didn’t look appealing so that would be a no go. For the atmosphere the seating looked very cozy and the cultural music/decorations gave it an authentic feel. The woman who gave us our food wasn’t too friendly but the waiter who was going around seemed very kind...
Read morewent here with two coworkers for lunch on a Tuesday. Both myself and a coworker ordered the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls and it came with a ginger dressing tossed salad, the other ordered a salmon bento box. Every place I've ever been at that serves this has their own approach to the ginger dressing, either because they make it themselves or buy from a different vendor. It was fine, not bad, but slightly separated as the ginger mostly stayed on top and the liquid was at the bottom of the bowl. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, there was 3 other tables that sat down when we did. The spicy salmon is cooked and shredded and put in sushi rolls and the tuna is traditional as expected. Because they use the same sauce, used generously, I had a hard time know which roll was which. I have no major complaints except for the fact the sushi rolls were extremely loose (not sticky rice?) and fell apart easily when dipped and this was true for all 5 rolls that were on our table. The taste was decent, not noteworthy. I wouldn't bend over backwards to go again but it's fine for the price.
I have read the other reviews here and I find some of them way too optimistic and a couple reviews were concerning. I actually think I had a good experience there but anybody who thinks this place is some 5 star place may need to...
Read moreTucked away in the Webster Woods Plaza, Taka House is a true gem, a testament to the charm of family-run restaurants. From the moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere greets you, a stark contrast to the impersonal feel of larger sushi restaurants. We’ve been visiting Taka House for years now, along with every other possible sushi restaurant in the Monroe County area and it was truly time to capture our experience. The sushi itself is exceptional; each piece is crafted with meticulous care, showcasing the freshest ingredients. The crab, shrimp, tuna, salmon and yellow tail melts in your mouth, and are presented in the popular uramaki and maki roll method along with the sashimi and nigiri options that are all perfectly balanced and a symphony of flavors & textures. Be sure to add miso soup or ginger salad to your experience. What truly sets Taka House apart is the genuine hospitality. The owners can always be found working alongside their staff, greeting and treating every customer like a cherished guest, creating a dining experience that feels personal and heartfelt. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or a first-timer, you'll find something to love. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and delightful...
