So here I am once again at IHOP Monroe. Had a great breakfast, service with a smile by Krystal. She knows my food preferences and brings what I need. She is attentive and friendly! Great good, great service, that is why I come here just about every day. I w As greeted by Sammora when I came in today, she is another terrific server. The manager, Dominica stopped at my table to say hi. Eating here is like eating among friends. Just wanted to post an update from my big review, below I’m adding an update to my review of IHOP in Monroe, NY. Like many people who regularly eat at a restaurant, I have servers that I prefer. LaShonda is a server who is also a manager there depending on the day. Whether she is working as a server or manager, she always greets me by name and with a genuine smile. She remembers my food preferences and makes suggestions where appropriate. She checks on my table often, and always brings out what I need. I have been coming here for years and LaShonda has always been incredible. My wife and I look forward to seeing her as she is such a wonderful person. I look forward to seeing her when I go to IHOP. She has worked for IHOP for over 25 years and is still a tireless person with a wonderful personality. I’m thankful she works here. I eat out at least once a day. I'm retired from the emergency services and it's how I treat myself. This IHOP is in a convenient location, next to TJ Maxx on Larkin Drive between Rt 17 in the Town of Woodbury (sometimes referred to as Harriman locally) and Orange County Rt 105 in Monroe. It's less than a mile from Woodbury Common factory outlets. The restaurant is very well maintained and very, very clean. The taste of the food is on point, served hot and it is delicious. The Quality of the food is tops, and it is consistently great day to day. I do breakfast here just about every day so I'm in a good position to know. The owners of this location own several other IHOP locations as well and this restaurant is very well run. The service is excellent as well. The service is excellent, the servers are friendly, knowledgeable and hard working. They smile at each other at work, and smile at the customers too ! It's genuine. Clearly the employees are treated well here. As a former public employee union local president that is important to me. On weekends and holidays this location is busy, due both locals and tourism. If you arrive between 9 am and 10 am, there may be a 10-to-15-minute wait, take it from me it is worth it. Of course, if you are with a large group, expect to wait a bit longer so they can accommodate you. This IHOP opens earlier than other area eateries, and I like that, too. The managers, Yoshi and LaShonda are very friendly and check on the tables frequently. No, I don't work here, nor did I ever. Don't just come here for breakfast (which is always tasty) Lunch and Dinner options (in addition to traditional breakfast fare) are really, really good as well. I've had the grilled chicken sandwich many times. It is ALWAYS served juicy, never overcooked and seasoned to perfection. My wife likes the crispy chicken sandwich and she has high praise for that as well. A patron at a table next to me was raving about how good his burger was the other night! I've come to know many of the servers here. LaShonda, Crystal, Krystal, Tywan, and Sammora are the servers I see most often here and are great but frankly my wife had I have never had bad service here. You cannot go wrong here. And yes they are open on Holidays such as Thanksgiving , Christmas, etc. Check their website for hours. Also they give 20% off for senior citizens...
Read moreI come all the time and this was absolutely the worst service I had ever had anywhere. It was two pm no wait, approximately 5 tables in the restaurant and two servers on. It took about 15 minutes for our server Sophia to even come to the table. Once she did she asked what we wanted to eat not a hi or what we would like to drink just “what do you want to eat”. As we ordered she seemed confused as to things we were asking about. I asked for a coffee on the specials menu as well as an order of pancakes, an order of sausage and a hash brown. We were told she’d be right back with our drinks however it took 20 minutes for her to return, she told me they did not have the specialty coffee and instead just brought me a black coffee. I was fed up with the wait times so I asked for our food to be cancelled, I was then told that the food was already ready. The food came out and my hash-browns were burnt, I was told she’d get me a new one however it was barely edible. I am a server myself and it’s so disheartening to be treated with such disregard when clearly there was no need, I understand if it is busy but she only had 3 tables. There was also no manager to be found. Sophia needs to be better trained or simply moved down a position, no server should be on the floor not being...
Read moreHave visited this location twice so far.
1st time was a pleasant experience and the waitress did her best to accommodate my family and the other family with us. It was a Sunday, so it was pretty packed, but service was still pretty quick. When asked about a military discount, 10% was taken off the bill. Food quality was good and everyone enjoyed their meals.
2nd Time was alright I suppose. The place was not as crowded as the first time, but even after ordering our food, it took nearly 45 minutes for us to get it. One of the guests from our table even had to go to one of the Waitresses (who wasn't ours) and asked for a status on the food. When asked for the military discount, 10% was taken off One food item and not the entire bill (which came out to 1 dollar, versus the 6 dollars that had been taken off the bill during our first visit). Suggest if you are going to offer or allow a military discount that the staff knows that it's either 10% of 1 item or the whole bill (most places do off the bill).
This is not a knock against the food at all, both times we enjoyed the food, it was good and the selection is what would be expected of any IHOP. I still rate this place 4 out of 5 stars and will come again as...
