Today I took my family here for my daughter's 14 birthday; her choice of any restaurant in town. She wanted to watch the entertainment of her dinner being cooked on the grill. We made reservations and showed up on time. The Hostess, an older lady, grumpily greeted us and told us to wait as she walked into the dining area. She came back and moments later and said, "Follow Me!"
We were seated at one of the grills directly adjacent to another already occupied grill. We ordered our dinners and waited for the show to begin. Once the chef came out with his cart he began talking to the adjacent table, confirming their orders and making small talk...........Then the chef turned around to our table and confirmed our orders and explained he was going to be our chef at the same time as the other table because the restaurant was short handed.
The chef proceeded to cook the rice on the other table interacting with those patrons and basically ignoring us. I was thinking, okay maybe he was going to cook our rice on the grill at our table next; but this was not the case he served us rice from the other grill. Next he started cooking the vegetables on our grill then turned and cooked the chicken and shrimp on the opposite table. Basically we spent 70% of the time staring at the chef's back with barely any interaction from him. To top it off he completely forgot my daughter's steak, (the birthday girl) until another disgruntled couple at our table asked him about the steak. He did get another steak and cook it to my daughters preference but by this time most of the family had almost finished their meal.
I would not recommend anyone go to this restaurant. The food has always been just okay which could be overlooked for the entertainment value........but now you can't even count on have anyone actually cook at your table. Spend your hard earned money and any other worthy restaurant in town. Trust me this place is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant was poorly run. We waited for approx 30 mins for the table to fill up before the chef arrived (he explained it was due to the fact that he has to do the prep work for each table, before he arrives...soooooo, no one preps before the restaurant opens....totally slack). The waitress continuously forgot people's beverages and had them waiting and flagging her down, every time we wanted to order another round. THERE WERE ONLY 4 TABLES SEATED. The chef even had to tell her to come take our drink order, at one point. NOTE:SUSHI/HIBACHI GRILL WAS OUT OF SAKI. We spotted our waitress sitting around chatting, while people at our table sat w nothing to drink. Unacceptable. The up charge for switching from white to fried rice was $4.50/person, which I thought was a ltitle ridiculous. All they do is add some frozen veggies and soy sauce. Our server Damian, was the best part, but the food was just okay. My portion of the tab was $55 for an entre, splitting an app and 2 cocktails. My pina colada came out blue...enough said. To top it all off, the waitrest came back, after we paid and asked me if the change I left was for the tip. I said it was, and she explained to me that the tip was to be split between her and the chef. As if, she expected more of a tip. I explained to her that I tipped the chef seperately. I didn't go into the fact that the reason I tipped her 15%, instead of 20% was because the service was lowsy. At that point, the level of unprofessionality made me want to just get the hell out of there and never return. Do not waste your time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a reservation for a Sunday @ 6pm. It was completely dead in that place, but what could you expect for Sunday early evening. Only one other family was there. My party was seated promptly.
Let's get straight to it. Food - A+. Drinks: F The chef was a great chap. Engaging, cooked the food excellent. He wasn't doing any wild benihana acrobats with his tools, but a little. Fun to see. The kids at the next table over seemed to enjoy it. Anyhow, great cook. Food was delicious. Large portions too.
The drink menu. Save your money and just get a water/soda. The drink menu is something from the 80's. The waitress was/is the bartender. I double she knows many drinks and possibly just follows some guide behind the counter to make the menu drinks only. For example - I asked for a gin & tonic. My drink was 99% tonic. Let's try a simple vodka martini. It was 90% vermouth and the olives looked like they died last year. Poor drink had no chance. Waste of money. Save your money & have a drink at home. My bill (w/tip) was almost $150 (4 drinks). Those drinks were totally not worth the money spent.
This is a nice restaurant. I imagine it's really hopping on Friday/Saturday night. They have karaoke. I understand it's been under new management. Great. Kick it up a notice with a new drink menu. You'll attract more families (mom/dad who enjoy a nice cocktail) and 40+ crowd that know their drinks. Your current drink menu belongs in the cocktail graveyard of the...
