I love to find 'mom & pop' restaurants when I travel & I saw this restaurant just in time to pull in the lot before passing by. All other customers while I was there used the drive thru, but never having been there & seeing their rather large menu, I opted to go in to order. The inside was clean, but not particularly attractive. The woman taking my order was friendly enough - albeit she thought I was crazy for driving from Tennessee to bring my dog to a specialist there in SC. I ordered the fish sandwich. It took 5-10 minutes & I had my food & was on my way. The styrofoam box was stapled shut it was so full! The fish sandwich was outstanding!! The fish was hot, crispy & full of flavor. The bun was soft & fluffy... the lettuce & tomato fresh & chilled. I was super impressed! The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly & were piping hot. Read moreI honestly don't know how Malaka keeps the lights on here. The food here is disgusting, the drive thru staff is rude and acts like they're doing you a solid by simply waiting on you and exchanging their inferior tasteless product for your hard earned money.. Locals know whats up..its why they call it "the green fly". Dont take my word for it. Place an order and pull up in the drive thru line and smell the stench emitting from the back of the building while you wait. It'll turn your stomach. Straight up nasty. I think they must be taking advantage of all the retarded yankees who seem to be piling in down here and causing traffic probs in TR. To all the unwanted morons with the NY, NJ, PA and MI plates on their vehicles looking for food...by golly yes..if you desire Southern hospitality and Great Food.. by all means, locals highly recommend Carolina FINE foods to you... Also, to all of you...
Read moreSeems like if you’re not a local you are not treated in a nice manner. You could tell the locals were being called sweetheart and told to have a blessed day.The lady behind the counter was rude when we told her we have never been in before we didn’t live in the area and were trying to look at the menu.It was like we were a burden being there. We probably should’ve turned around and left .The food was just okay nothing to make up for the experience overall. The whole place could use an update including some of the rude staff. My husband has helped run a restaurant and this experience was a one time experience for sure. When we are back in Travelers Rest which will be soon and often we will not...
