If you're driving along I-15 and passing through Tremonton and want a place where you can get an amazing meal and a welcoming atmosphere... Pull off now and drive straight here.
Really, really good BBQ. They embrace the fact that it's North Carolina-style BBQ and honestly I love that. It's good to have a variety of styles here in Utah because it's freaking hard to find good BBQ restaurants here. We drove from Ogden and it was well worth the drive.
The sausage was the best thing we ate, but that's not to downplay how good the ribs and brisket were as well. But the sausage was just amazing. Had enough heat to it to taste it, but to not be overwhelming. Ribs were as moist as I've ever tasted and the brisket was soft and really good too. The variety of sauces were amazing and they gave you plenty.
We had potato salad and coleslaw for sides and the potato salad was probably the best I've ever tasted.
Peach cobbler and chocolate cake for dessert. The cobbler was off the charts good- just enough cinnamon to not overwhelm, but add plenty of flavor. The chocolate cake was more like sheet cake with frosting- also really good.
Clearly a family-run establishment and it shows in the care they give to everything. I will be bringing people back!
Last thing- I really enjoyed the variety of root beers they had in the cooler. It was the biggest root beer selection I've...
Read moreWOW……. this place is over the top good !!! As we travel the states, we look for BBQ places that we can taste smoked meats and then, if we like it, buy a pound for the road. Not everyplace we find is good…. J. Brians’s Southern BBQ was a great find !!! We are staying in the Aspen Grove RV Resort behind them… walked over to investigate the BBQ and sooooooo glad we did.
Stepping into the small restaurant, one side is a section selling rustic gifts and another area to sell their bottled sauces. Step up to the counter, order what you want … they do have inside & outside eating area to enjoy any meal you order. We asked for a small sample of brisket, pulled pork & smoked sausage…. Owner, April Smith happily let us taste each one of them. What a delightful lady… full of personality.
After our tasting…… my husband & I just stopped and whispered to each other…… OMG… it’s moist, tender, flavorful and delicious !! We ordered 1 pound each of brisket & pork. I already had some smoked sausage and as delicious as it was….. we didn’t need anymore in our freezer. We went back to Camp, grabbed a beer and enjoyed an afternoon appetizer.
Definitely a place to...
Read moreBrisket this tender is currently illegal in at least 37 states, but lucky for me it isn't illegal in Utah....Yet.😁 I remember reading other reviews about how tender the brisket was, but hey some folks are daft enough to rate the burgers served at the world's biggest Scottish restaurant 5 stars (Hint: it starts with Mc & ends in disappointment), so other reviewers viewpoints can often be found lacking. But to my surprise, amusement, enjoyment, and adulation I found the reviews about their brisket to be as on target as a master marksman. Just like Johnny Cash I've been everywhere man, and that means I've had smoked brisket from as close as Layton to as far away as the fjords of Norway. So let me tell ya what....this hammer down hits the literal and proverbial nail on the head! 🔨. Tender, juicy and full of flavor are the only words (that I'll use in polite company, as I am a gentleman after all 🤠) to describe such a sensation as I experienced while eating this brisket. So if you want to take your taste buds on a roller coast ride to the land of pure bliss & complete awesomeness I'd recommend you drop by to give them a shot. And that's the bottom line... because I...
