Needed a place to eat after attending an athletic event at Trinity High School. Firehouse pizza was inundated with flies so we left there and walked down to Agavales. The salsa was good. Service slow. A hot plate in my opinion means the food is not fresh. My plate was unbelievably hot. I did appreciate the hot food though. Having to walk through a heavily smoke filled cantina to get to the bathroom was unpleasant. The bathroom sign (Banos) is over the waitstaff area- was glad the bathrooms were not actually there. It is old inside but probably fairly clean. Didn't see anyone leave to observe cleaning practices. Food was average tasting; waited an unusually long time for it to get to the table. Others who arrived before us waited longer than we did. They appropriately staff at 5 pm because we saw quite a few staff come in at that time. 5 pm is also when the regular customers seem to come in. Prices are average. Must be a popular local place because a lot of people who came in knew each other. Liked the hometown feel. Trinity is a quaint town. Appreciate them opening up for out of...
Read moreHighly disappointed that I will no longer be coming to this restaurant. This evening I went there and ordered nachos. I had only eaten 2-3 of the chips when i noticed a hair in them. I dug the hair out to make sure that’s what I was seeing. Sure enough it was. I brought it to someone’s attention who quickly took it to the back. The owner then came out with the plate and told me he would be taking it off my plate but “this didn’t come from the kitchen” saying that the hair was on top. Even if it wasn’t from the kitchen, it was from staff. My hair is light brown and long, this was a shorter black hair. Much like the owner or possibly even a beard hair. He continued to make it seem as though I had put the hair there, repeating that it did not come from the kitchen.
Again, it couldn’t have been mine. I understand things can happen, but no one wants to eat a hair. I wasn’t trying to get a free meal - I had barely eaten any of it! I wouldn’t have written them off had he handled it appropriately. To repeatedly tell me it wasn’t from the kitchen and imply I put it there was just astounding...
Read moreMy first time at Agavales; What a cute place, nestled slightly away from the main road. I'm on this road weekly and have seen the sign, but I'm usually rushing thru ... Luckily todatly, a friend and I were just passing each other on the hwy, and she recommended it! 1st and foremost, sweetest waitress, and shame on me, I usually get a name because I knew I'd be posting. 2. I love that the salsa is served warm, and had good flavor. 3. Good menu selection, I had to try the Carne Guisada! If a place has it, I'm going to get it! For this one, the cuts of meat were smaller than I'm used to, but cooked well. And the sauce had more of a tomato base rather than gravy stewed from the meat. It took away from the spices I tasted, but it was good. And 4. Really good wine based margaritas! I tried mine with watermelon flavor, and it was quite tasty! I'll be back to try the Enchiladas! I heard...
