Country Pride — Restaurant in Troutdale

My wife and I were interested in trying this place out after seeing mixed reviews.

First, I believe the people complaining about slow food delivery were unfairly blaming the waitress when the kitchen had sole control over this. I had a clear view of the kitchen and there was never a time where orders were just sitting in the window.

We arrived and seated ourselves and were greeted by Vonnie within a few minutes. The table was clean and coffee arrived shortly after we ordered.

Food was not super slow but was a tad bit slower then our favorite local restaurant, Dees. The price was about 1-2 bucks less than a Shari's or Elmer's. My only complaint would be that I specifically ordered crispy potatoes and received soft and mushy ones. Our waitress apologized and offered to replace them but I refused since it wasn't THAT big of a deal. It sucks that servers are at the mercy of the line cook.

A note to management: staffing seemed a bit low. At times the restaurant was 50-70% full with only 2 waitresses literally running from table to table. I know scheduling can be difficult but I think people's complaints on service could be addressed by adding another server. This could also reduce the stress on what appeared to be 2 ladies in their 60s.

I had a late afternoon lunch here while waiting on my truck to get in the shop. Conni was my server and all i can say is WOW!! If she isn't the trainer for new employees she SHOULD BE. From the moment i sat down i felt like i was at my favorite Aunts house and i was her favorite nephew. She immediately asked my name and every time she came to the table she spoke to me by name. I felt like even though the dining room was pretty busy, that i was her only customer and that she was doting on me. This level of customer service is a dying art. The lasagna special was huge. We came in late at night and we properly seated. I would drink and food orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived promptly. But that's really not what this review is about. Our waitress was extremely friendly and inviting, and that's probably the most memorable part of our experience here. Yes the food was good and yes that restaurant was clean. And it's always nice that it's open 24 hours and it's a quick stop off the freeway. What's nicest about it is the friendly service we received when we pulled in late at night to get some food. Hopefully next time we will arrive earlier so we can pay a little extra for the all you can eat soup and salad bar....
