3 stars is a accurate score based on all the information below. This venue may be popular but why?
The good- The location is in historic Troutdale. It does have easy access to the freeway. There are inside and outside areas that can be used. Each outdoor area has beautiful matured plants and shrubs. The outdoor wedding area has a covered beautiful wisteria covered trellis over the entire area! The area for the bride's preparation has nicely - rustic - decorations. I didn't see the grooms area. The indoor main areas had nice lighting and beautiful floors and bar area. It's not likely you'll forget the wedding in a year or two, the train during the ceremony will be remembered for a long time. I adore the young woman who was getting married and her choice to be married here with so many elements will be what makes her wedding fantastic! Her wedding day was beautiful! The dinner and dancing were held indoors, the inside main area is beautiful with hardwood floors and a bar that looks very old soft lighting and I would guess roughly fits 100 people?
The bad- Brides area has no bathroom or sink. It actually has no doors that separate it from the lower area - it is up stairs so anytime the bride needs to go potty everyone has to clear the main area. The bride's area had fantastic back drops like huge doors, old velvet couches and chairs, some very nice old furniture. The lights in every area was a mix of super bright and softly warm. Getting good photo light was lots of work. The area was like a finished attic with walls roughly 5 1/2' then dormer ceilings. There's only one window at the end. Multiple areas are separated by curtains. The outdoor area has some nice backdrops for photos but they were all dirty- cigarettes on the ground, gravell paths and even what appears to be a homeless camp.
The ugly- This location is directly next to the rail road tracks. Active train's the entire time I was there! (Between 3:30 - 9:30pm on a Saturday). I counted at least 12 train's? Two of those train's were during the ceremony and were very loud and long. The trains are not on a available schedule so it's not possible to work around the schedule on this issue. When I said that this location is next to the tracks in means that while sitting outside in the area designed for outdoor wedding ceremony we were about 8 feet from the train! You don't miss anything about the train, the tracks squealing, the Sparks off the tracks, the hoot-hoot of the engine and caboose and the rattling of every car on the train! Earplugs would have been nice. The ministry paused for the train to pass but it was a...
Read moreThe Troutdale House was Awesome! The staff was very helpful and responded to questions very quickly and had great recommendations for other vendors (we got a fantastic Italian Restaurant that only caters for the Troutdale House, super cheap prices, and our guest still rave about the food). The space was amazing, there are so many options of different looks for the ceremony site and they are all beautiful (it was hard to narrow it down to one). Plus the variety of different little cute decor areas made for great pictures (plus going outside and taking pictures on the train cars/tracks)!
The attic bridal area was great, lots of space for everyone to get ready, again decorated very nicely, and they even had a steamer available for the dresses. My husband and his groomsmen enjoyed the groom's area and playing with the games downstairs. Our guests commented on how great the space was and they enjoyed the option of going downstairs to play pool, air hockey, etc. too.
It was so nice that everything-tables, chairs, linens, twinkle lights, some other decor items, etc were all included and ready to go so all we had to do was put some decorations on the tables and we were good to go. Very fast set up and take down for us, so we had more time to get ready and play. And the kitchen space was a wonderful prep area since we did a multi dessert bar in addition to a traditional cake and there was lots of ice in the ice machine for the bartender.
I would highly, highly recommend this as your venue. It will be the best decision you made for your wedding other than saying "YES" in the...
Read moreBeautiful place to have a wedding. The groom suite has a totally masculine super cool dungeon vibe with lots of sitting space and it opens up to the outside on one end. The bridal suite has a very flowy, chic, Victorian feel up the stairs from the main hall. The ceremony site is beautiful with lots of greenery and purple listeria (I think that's the name of the flower). The staff is helpful for the most part. They set up their items and you set up yours kind of thing. We had only a short time to set up and tear down so if you choose this place I would recommend that you have all your set up and tear down ducks in a row before hand. I would also try and set up a few meetings to nail down specifics if you have alot of questions prior to your rehearsal because you only get an hour to practice and if your wedding party line up is non traditional, it may take longer than expected to get the job done. There are also train tracks really close so you will more than likely have a train or two during your ceremony. The venue DOES NOT have a train schedule so plan for train noise (we broke out in dance). Parking is kind of limited and weird. The parking is in three different lots. The seating area for dinner fits a limited number of rounds. I would recommend this place for a small to medium wedding (less than 150 people). They also have an on-site kitchen area for your caterer to use. I apologize for the lack of photos, I was the day of coordinator for my friends wedding and I failed to take photos because I was too busy making their...
