The food was outstanding, the steak bites were perfectly cooked, the Brussel sprouts were soo tasty, loved the fondue sauce. The margarita was on point! Sweet and Sour was really good, perfect balance!! Compliments to the chef/owner. I was taken back by the server. She greeted us with a curt, "Just so you know, we close at 9:00", I didn't know what time it was, thinking we must be really close to 9, why else would she tell us that upon arriving. It was only 8:15- In my experience arriving 30-45 minutes prior to closing isn't rude or an inconvenience to the staff. (However it has been years since I worked in a restaurant maybe this etiquette has changed) She turned customers away at 8:30- she rushed everyone who was in the pub. I had asked for fries when she brought our food - and she said they weren't serving anymore food- (Ok, I totally understand)- I also asked for another margarita (thinking that is bar item not a kitchen item), and was told no to that too. We paid our bill and left her a 20% tip while we finished up the last few bites of food. She locked the door (I didn't know she was just locking from the outside so nobody could come in) I mentioned this to my husband. She must have overheard what I said- which clearly angered her. She was loud and confronted me in what I said, I told her not to worry that we were leaving- I told her she had been rude to us since we walked in. She said she was just being courteous by telling us of closing time. She told me very loudly from the middle of the pub that I was welcome to never return and that I was the only one with a problem. As a local business owner myself, I know employees can make or break your business. Adding $ to your bill only puts more money in the business and typically reflects a higher tip for the server. I've been an employee- I get wanting to leave work asap and get on with your life. However, there is a way to navigate this process without being obviously put out that customers are impeding on your closing duties. We didn't stay any longer than anyone else in the pub leaving by 9:10. Perhaps she was having a bad day and had something urgent to do after work, we all have off day. She just seemed to not like her job and was irritated...
Read moreAwful. Do not go here. I've been here three times in the past year and two of the three times they said there would be a 45 minute wait for food when it was not busy at all!!! The last and final time was tonight. My boyfriend and I sat down outside, the waiter asked if we wanted anything to drink.. we both ordered alcoholic beverages, she checked our I.d.'s... My boyfriend, how was 16 in his photo and 25 now and looks much different, was fine, no questions asked. And then She said she'd have to have mine double checked after looking extremely skeptical of it. She was extremely rude about it. And then she came back and told me I'd have to answer questions because my photo looked "zoomed in". Just a bit of background information; I've lost 80 pounds since my I.d. photo was taken so I have a much smaller face... But I look exactly the same otherwise. Needless to say after three attempts at this place, I will never go back. It sucks because it's within walking distance of my house. I guess thats what happens when your employees don't know anything about how to...
Read moreWhat happened to this Troutdale gem. Ye Olde Pub was once the place to go in Troutdale. Catered to everyone. They have obviously changed owners. No friendly hello when we walked in. No I will be right with you. Nothing friendly about this place any more. At one time this was my granddaughter's favorite place to eat. However, they no longer have anything on the menu for children. They didn't even have cherries for a Shirley Temple. We ordered appetizers and main course. Everything came out at the same time. One person at our table tried to order his burger well done and the waiter talked him out of it because it would take too long and everyone else's food would get cold. Advice to the new owners...if you are going to allow children in your establishment have something for them to eat. If you do not have air conditioning when it is 90 degrees outside offer water. When somebody orders a Nacho with no olives and no avocado don't put ALL toppings on the side and call it a make your own nacho. Been eating here for 5 years and unfortunately will...
