Lulu Food Place — Restaurant in Troutdale

Started with the Garlic Shrimp wontons… I will be dreaming about those for a while. Amazing dipping sauce comes with them. I highly recommend as a starter. Being Saturday, I got the combo, Kalua Pork and the Korean Fried Chicken… double Mac Salad (because I love Mac salad & Lulu’s didn’t disappoint, their Lulu sauce is very tasty!). Kalua Pork was nicely smoked and I appreciated some crispy bits (it was juicy and delicious, there was just a few crispy bits that I personally enjoyed). Korean Fried Chicken was so flavorful, amazing spice blend and the right amount of saucing. Perfect balance of sweet, savory, spicy (not super spicy, very approachable). My partner got the shoyu chicken, I went to sample hers… it was gone 😁. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and experience. Owner/operators are super sweet people and you can tell they love and appreciate the food they serve. I recommend everything we ordered, and look forward to going back on another day to snag another...

I knew it would be good, but I didn’t think it would be THIS good.

First off, the owners are just the kindest people. Greeted with a friendly smile and a warm hello. He was plating food when I got up to the window but still engaged with me and answered all my questions.

Now for the food. We will start with what I’ve thought about every single day since eating there this weekend, the Mac salad. When I saw it on the menu I thought to myself “here comes the same ole mac salad” but boy was I wrong. I’d eat that every day. It’s made with their original LuLu Sauce and I’d fill a kiddy pool up with it and slide on in without hesitation. The shoyu chicken was super flavorful and tender. The quality of their ingredients is top tier and it shows in the flavor of every dish. I can’t wait to try the Bao next time!

Lulu is a food truck in a pod outside of Wayfinder Beer. The area is clean and well appointed, and importantly for northwesterners, largely in the shade.

The food is insane. My wife and I are huge plate lunch fans and they nailed every single part. Hawaiian Mac salad is often kind of a filler for some restaurants but it's a feature player here. A little kick but with the dressing to cool it down. We ordered the Korean BBQ chicken and we were specifically warned that the peppers they use in the recipe are spicier in the summer and thank God they warned us because it was pretty intense, but truly truly delicious.

We also got their elote special and it was also incredible.
