Sat in the De Fazio garden this afternoon and enjoyed a chicken and herb salad and a cheese pizza. The outdoor space is quaint with an herb garden in the rear. When we walked in, there was a wonderful aroma. I don't know what it was, but it smelled delicious. A young lady greeted us and walked us to the garden area. The service was excellent. This place has been in S. Troy for a long time, and you can tell they have an uncompromising quality. First they brought some garlic bread. My guess is that they use an infused olive oil. The garlic and herb flavor on this bread is delectable. The pizza came out first. What stood out for me are the ingredients. The cheese is high quality, not greasy and flavorful. Their pizza sauce is fresh, mild and delicious. It has a very slight sweetness, with fresh herbs. It is not spicy. Perfect for a bold red wine. The salad is fresh and has roasted red pepper, a medium provolone (a little sharp), cherry tomatoes, leafy greens, black olive and red onions. The chicken was slightly over-cooked, but seasoned nicely. I'd definitely get it again. I decided to get the hangover cake to go. This cake is so good. I think it made its way into my top 5 cakes. You must try it. Overall a great experience.

DeFazio's makes a great pizza. Our party shared 3 small options. Cheese, Vegan, Broccoli and Spinach. All of them were delicious. What impressed us the most was how the plain cheese pizza was the star. Whatever they are doing with their sauce, cheese and crust is perfection. Nothing says to me that a pizza shop knows what it is doing when the plain slice blows you away. DeFazio's nailed it. Important as well is the vegan options. As is typical it gets a bit more expensive when you go for vegan options, but the Vegans in the group were so very happy, also noting they hadn't found a vegan pizza in the area as good as the one they had at DeFazio's. This place is super busy and actually has to limit their orders per time slot. So if you can, consider this for your future order and reserve it ahead of time. When we arrived a few minutes early, they asked us to wait outside (you can wait if your vehicle and actually choose that option online) and they came to us outside to hand deliver the fresh pizzas when they were ready. You can see they have put thought into the their systems to make the process as smooth as possible for their customers. And as always Enjoy!!

Life changing pizza. Seriously.

I'm originally from California where we have some pretty amazing Mexican food but not the best Pizza. I moved to New York in 2015 and i made it my own personal mission to try as much pizza as i can from many different shops to find the "perfect slice"

3 years ago i went down to NYC withy Dad and tried 8 or 9 different pizza shops they were all amazing and Dad enjoyed it as well i was convinced by now i had tried all the pizza that New York had to offer.

That was until Last Thursday.

I was messing around on Google maps trying to decide what i wanted for lunch when i ended up finding Defazio's Pizzaria. I wanted to try a new place and the weather was nice so why not.

I get there and i park a block away since the street was busy, I walk into the shop thinking "oh man why are there no seats?" So I'm standing there looking confused and this man asks me, "can I help you with something?" "yeah I would like to order a pizza, but I don't see any pizza on the menu?" He tilts his head down and looks at me and says "does this look like a pizza shop to you?" and he starts bursting out laughing "I'm just kidding with you the pizza shop is right next door."

Turns out i had walked into their seperate shop where they sell sauces, meats, and take home goods.

So i walk next door to the ACTUAL pizza shop and it was very humble inside. A few smaller booths and a drink refrigerator to the left. I end up ordering the Fresh Mozzarella pizza with Basil.

The server asks if i want the pizza here, or to go. I decided I'll just eat it here since I didn't want it to get cold on the way back. I sit down at one of the booths and he says "follow me right this way to your table." I'm confused since i was already sitting down but i follow him out the front door around to the backyard where they have this amazing outdoor seating area with birds chirping, lights strewn above you from the trees and just a very good vibe. The same feeling you would get hanging out at your best friends house.

So I'm sitting there taking in the atmosphere and the same man from earlier walks in the yard and looks at me with a grin and goes "so you finally found the pizza shop?" The man introduced himself as Rocco Defazio, owner of the shop and gave me the history of his family's pizza and restraunt. It was all very personable.

The the pizza.

Oh my god the pizza.

The sauce was tangy and savory.

The mozzarella had a nice bite to it.

The basil was very fragrant and aromatic.

You can just tell that this place puts love and care into their pizza and their ingredients. It just puts the food on a different level. This is something i had never had in my life.

Rarely do you try food in your 30's that you would call "life changing".

But this pizza, this experience, was life changing. Its a core memory that will be with me for the rest of my life.

If you can make the trip here I would highly recommend it. Do it for yourself, treat yourself, you deserve it.

To Rocco, Friends and Family, thank you so much, i look forward to coming again VERY...

10 out of 10 experience! Not your typical sit down restaurant experience which completely made the experience that much better! We made a reservation for 6pm. We went into the pizza shop to let them know we were there for a reservation. They brought us back outside around the side of the building to a backyard dining experience. Felt like you were having dinner at someone's home which is pretty much the theme because they treat you like family! They have some bottled soft drinks, water, etc. however you can bring your own drinks. We brought a bottle of wine where the waiter generously opened and served. Regrettably, it was our first time there but after this experience it definitely won't be the last. We ordered a pizza to share and then both ordered a pasta for dinner. The special was a COB (cheese on bottom, IYKYK) wood fire pizza with a Margherita twist. If you have or haven't had a COB pizza this definitely competes with the best around. We bought a medium 8 cut pizza that was so delicious I could have ate the whole pie to myself! The first bite melted into my mouth, the fresh ingredients exploded with flavor every bite and I couldn't get enough. For pasta we ordered linguine with white (they have red too) clam sauce and linguine fra diavolo with chicken. The pasta is freshly made and absolutely unique. The sauce for both were very flavorful. The fra diavolo was spicy but not overwhelming enough to make you sweat. The chicken was cooked perfectly. They also brought out complimentary wood fire garlic bread to soak up the remainder of the sauce. Somehow we still had room for dessert so we ordered a freshly made cannoli and their signature hangover cake. Both were just what we needed to cap the perfect dinner. The cannoli shell was just as good as the cannoli filling. The hangover cake was so moist and delicious. Not one complaint to be had. Can't wait to go back and try more! Thank you for a...

I want to start by saying if I could give this place 0 stars I would. I'd heard the pizza there was good so I wanted to give it a try. I bought a cheese pizza and a piece of hangover cake (Tastes like something premade, definitely not homeade) Saturday night maybe 20 mins before closing. It smelled great so I was excited to get it home and devour it. I started eating it and had maybe 2 slices, reached for a third and saw a huge hair on it. I know for a fact ot couldn't be mine as I shave my head bald and have no hair. By the time I'd got home and started eating it was already closed. So I figured I'd give them a call tomorrow. I called them the next day and they were closed. So I called on Monday and spoke to a manager named Jen (I think that was her name) and I told her what had happened. She offered a $10 credit off my next order. I said I don't even want a credit or a refund I just want the pizza remade. She said she had to speak to the owner and ask him if that could be done. Told me he'd contact me, which he did not. So I called the next day which was Tuesday. I asked if the owner named Matt was there and I heard someone ask him if he could come to the phone. She then came back on the phone and said he wasn't there.. even though I clearly just heard you ask him to come to the phone. He then called me back. He stated his policy that if there isn't contact the day of the issue then they only offer a lousy $10 credit. I informed this clown of an owner that they were closed so I could not contact them. He stated that the policy is firm and there's nothing he can do. So beware of hair and other things tainting your food from here. Before writing my review I read quite a few of them on here and the fact that there are so many who've had hair in their food is alarming to say the...
