McVee's Pub and Grub — Restaurant in Troy

Food was good, but nothing on the menu is Irish as the McVee's Bar's name would suggest. Prices very high for what was offered. Sat at the bar and had really mediocre service. There were 2-3 bartenders with less than half the seats filled. I wish we could have traded servers as our bartender (Lauren) seemed like she could care less about us and had a really grim attitude. She was dressed like she was ready to clean a garage. I asked a couple questions about menu items before ordering and was mocked by her. The menu has a number of really different items but none seemed to ring true to the McVee's name. "Southwest Eggrolls"? Celery and Carrot sticks with Ranch Dressing for $9.99? (Does anyone ever order that?) I ordered a Reubin Sandwich ($12) and asked what it came with and was told "it's a sandwhich on a plate". I politely asked if it came with chips or anything else? Again, reply seemed to be mocking me when telling me that it did not, but I could add fries for $4. My g f. ordered Fish and Chip ($17). The drinks were in line price-wise and were mixed as expected. It just seemed to be very expensive for what we got. There are plenty of other places nearby to pick from who actually seem to make us feel welcome that we picked their place to spend our money at. I will therefore not be rushing...

Tried to order their signature hamburger as carryout over the phone but was forgotten about on hold for 8+ minutes.

I then walked inside and placed a carry out order for their signature hamburger in person. Waited 35 minutes total at the bar before i decided to call them while sitting in their own restaurant. They didn't know who I was for a while and then said it was ready. They still didn't look for me at the bar. The place was emptying out at 7:30pm. I marched myself to their kitchen, confronting their manager and he offered me my cold hamburger without any intelligence. Yes, offered to re cook me a new burger for another i assume 12 minutes. I blinked with hungry rage and left.

Although I have been here many times, I went to an event and was surprised and disappointed by how poor the food and service was. One pregnant guest had called ahead to let the restaurant know of a gluten allergy. She was told there was no problem. The host of the party also verified this but at the event they did not have anything other than salad(no dressing) and cut veggies for her. They could not give her a slider on a bun because someone had forgotten to thaw them? They suggested that she just take a meat patty off of a regular bun which shows that the staff is undertrained in allergies. Finally they brought her a cooked burger no bun on a plate. That's it. No lettuce- no onion- no tomato- nothing but meat on a plate. Pretty sad.

**Addition due to response from the restaurant. I was there and witnessed the server advising the person with the allergy to just take a burger off of a gluten bun. To anyone with celiac- or any other allergy- that shows lack of training. We of course did not complain to the host as that would have been rude but regardless, you have now lost me permanently as a customer as my review was very fair and honest and your response shows a general lack of concern for...
