Detroit Chinese Restaurant - Miss Chang An: A Nostalgic Taste of Chang'an

Food was good and priced at a great value! - Rougamo Pork: 3/5. Not enough flavor. - Tea Eggs: 5/5. Nice marinated eggs to eat on the side with rice. - Spicy oil noodles: 5/5. Love the wide noodles. The texture was so chewy and fresh overall. It doesn’t come with any meat tho. - noodle with soy bean paste: 4/5. Average. - braised chicken: 5/5. Great depth and umami. - soaked bun noodle soup: 4/5. Very interesting texture with the soaked noodles/bread. It’s very starchy. Broth had hint of lamb taste. - Service: 2/5. Biggest complaint would have to be the staff speaks very minimal English. I ordered on the kiosk and would see their staff come out and say the order in Chinese. They even came up to me and asked, in Chinese, if I ordered the dish they were holding. When I told them I don’t speak Chinese, they just looked at me and turned around. Then later, the owner lady came out and asked for my receipt. She also spoke minimal English…. So it took a while to get my dishes

We’ve been waiting for this location to open for a few weeks, and we stopped over yesterday to grab a few drinks and food. I believe they are still in their soft opening phase but so far the shop is cute. They have really cute cloud lighting, and decor behind the counter. I got brown sugar boba, boyfriend ordered mango smoothie and we also ordered a third tea for a friend-I believe was peach. The clogs is cute and I like the cups, you can reuse them or recycle them. To eat, we ordered fried chicken and the meat was seasoned well, not salty at all, which I appreciate. It was a little greasy but nothing crazy. I think they may panko coat the chicken which makes the skin really crunchy and light. Will come back when in the area👍🏽

I ordered a Spicy Broth Rice Noodles and an Iced Taro Milk Tea. The noodle was genuinely spicy but not too extreme. The portion was good. The milk tea was again good. It was not too milky. The lady who tends the front end of the cafe was courteous. I would visit again to try their variety of food.

When the ordering kiosk asks tip up front, you'd better consider that the restaurant is partial self service system. You are to return the finished dishes to the bin at the end of the cafe by yourself. And you take your water cup...
