Shish Island Grill is hands down the best Mediterranean restaurant in Troy. From the time we placed the order, to the moment we picked up our order, the experience was flawless. The staff are some of the kindest, most accommodating people I’ve ever dealt with. They treated us like family—listening carefully to our requests, suggesting options, and making sure every detail was perfect.
We recently ordered a family meal for 13 people, and it was a total hit. Every single guest raved about the food! The flavors were vibrant, authentic, and perfectly seasoned—from the tender, juicy kebabs to the creamy, silky hummus and freshly baked pita. The portions were generous, and everything tasted as though it had just come off the grill.
What impressed me most was how flexible and attentive they were. We asked for a few substitutions on the platter to fit our preferences, and they happily made it happen. Not only did they accommodate every request, they went above and beyond—delivering more than we expected. The food was ready exactly on time, beautifully packaged, and piping hot.
It’s rare to find a place that combines amazing food, exceptional service, and genuine hospitality, but Shish Island Grill delivers it all. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch, a cozy dinner, or catering for a big family gathering, this is the place to go.
I highly recommend Shish Island Grill to anyone craving fresh, flavorful Mediterranean cuisine. They don’t just serve food—they create an experience that leaves you smiling long after the...
Read moreI absolutely DO NOT recommended this eatery. The lamb in the sandwich was dry and chewy, and the bread was stale. The grilled vegetables were visually unappealing, and the greens in the salad were soggy and wilted.. To make matters worse, the staff was incredibly rude. When I walked in for lunch, the employee at the counter asked if I wanted carryout or to dine in. I said I wanted to dine in, paid for my meal, but then he must have not been paying attention to what I said because he started packing it up for carryout. When I reminded him that I wanted to dine in, he rudely informed me that it was carryout only, despite other patrons eating the tables. At the end, when I asked if he was serious (because I definitely did not plan on eating in my car) he replied with "You're not going to work me for free; we work for tips around here!" Frankly, with service like that, it’s no surprise he’s stressed—he probably never gets tipped. To make matters worse he neglected to put a fork in the bag. Just as well since it is all so disgusting, I am just going to throw this all in the trash where it belongs, and go buy some decent food to eat. No lie, even if they were giving away free food I would never eat at that place again, There are plenty of great mediterranean restaurants nearby; do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI went to Shish Island specifically because they have lamb on their menu and they did not disappoint.
I place my order to go but what i saw of the restaurant it's very clean and pleasant. The staff was very cordial and helpful with understanding the menu or asking questions. Once my order was placed they offered me some water while I waited for my food to be prepared.
Their menu doesn't have lamb kafta as an entree but when I asked they said they could accommodate. I got it with rice and the combination of the lamb, rice and sauce, was very tasty.
I also ordered one lamb chop. It was cooked to medium. I prefer it to be slightly rarer but I would blame myself for not specifying. With the sliced onions and tomato again, each bite was very enjoyable.
Lastly, I also ordered the small buba ghanouj. It had a wonderful smoky garlic taste with no bitterness at all. The flat bread that came with it was light a airy which only added to the light taste of the dish.
I don't live in the Detroit area but will be coming back on business many times in the future. I look forward to returning to shish Island again in the future. I highly recommend giving them a try if you...
