My partner & I recently came here for a date night dinner and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. We were the only ones there on an early Saturday evening, so were greeted and seated right away and didn’t have to wait too long for the food. The server was exceedingly kind. The art, music, and decor inside the restaurant was beautiful. The food was absolutely incredible. We ordered jollof rice with chicken, beef skewer, waakye (which came with fried fish), fried plantains, and the chicken wings. The skewer and wings came with a delicious sauce (have no idea what was in it). Everything tasted freshly prepared, well-seasoned, hot, and prepared with love. Admittedly, the style on how some of the dishes were prepared is slightly than what I had been accustomed to relative to Ghanaian cuisine (for example, I’ve always had waakye where the fish was cooked IN with the rice and stew and beans, never separately), but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same, also understanding the owners are from Ivory Coast (not Ghana). The portion size was also VERY generous relative to the price. I personally thanked the owner/chef for blessing us with her amazing cooking. Truthfully with food this good, I was shocked this place was as empty as it was. We look forward to...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at The seasoning house this evening and the food was AMAZING!!! The owners and server greeted us warmly and were so friendly and sweet the whole time. We sat outside because I brought my dog and they welcomed him and were so patient even though he was barking. We ordered the Jollof Rice, the Okra soup with fufu, African style grill chicken/jerk chicken with plantains. All three dishes were SUPERB AND DELICIOUS. The dishes came with multiple sauces which were all to die for, including the hot sauce with the jerk chicken!!! The flavors were unique and tasty without being overpowering. The chicken and meat were cooked perfectly. The plantains were a little crispy and caramelized, mmm! I haven’t had a meal this good in ages. Everything was so good that we had to try a dessert even though we were so full. We ordered the Sweetwater Millet Pudding! It was lovely and refreshing, with such a gorgeous distinctive flavor. I went inside and noticed the beautiful African art touches around the restaurant and awesome Afrobeats playing! We are only visiting the area but I honestly wish I could bring The seasoning house home with me to Los Angeles!!! I will definitely be dreaming of/craving this food. Thank you for the very best...
Read moreWe came in and I was hoping to try the guinea fowl, but they were out tonight so I'll have to come back. The chef recommended we try the jerk chicken instead, which we ordered with the cassava couscous and some kenkey.
The jerk chicken was very well cooked, and the onions were flavorful and delicious. For jerk chicken it was much more mildly seasoned than I would have expected. The couscous was just plain, though the sauces it came with helped. I should have taken the menus advice and only had the kenkey with a soup, I just wanted to try something I'd never heard of before.
I was worried that the prices looked very high, but the serving of chicken and the sides were plenty for two people, we couldn't finish it all together. I look forward to trying something else from the menu on my next visit, but I'm hoping for more seasoning from the...
