My family and I have been to Metro a few times, and the staff has always been friendly. The food is okay, but I just felt it necessary to comment about the last two times we have eaten there.
About three weeks ago we came in for brunch. I ordered the San Francisco Benedict. We sat at a table and when it was delivered to me, the eggs were cold compared to the rest of the plate. Everything had a good flavor, but I felt it was worth mentioning to the server as she cleared our plates. She came back with a message from the manager that I could come back again and have a free SF Benedict as a courtesy.
Today my husband and I decided to dine here and I redeemed my courtesy meal and ordered the SF benedict again. This time we sat at the bar and watched as food was being prepared. I noticed that the cook who was in charge of poaching the eggs would drop two eggs in the poaching pan and pull them out and leave them in dishes until it was time to plate them. There were eggs that sat in those dishes for well over 10 minutes. The dishes were on the side of the stove and didn’t appear to be on any heat. When I received my dish the eggs were once again cold. I didn’t want to complain again because I felt my complaints were going unheeded. Poaching eggs doesn’t take that long and the meatloaf my husband ordered is premade so it would have been satisfactory to prepare my eggs and then plate his meatloaf.
I know they have much food to prepare and plate and the kitchen stayed busy. However, it is an oversight of the management to have heard a complaint of cold poached eggs and not address the process. The cook had four poached eggs out on these dishes that just sat there. Why couldn’t he poach them fresh each time?
We also noticed that the cook who was frying chicken was eating on the line which is a health code violation.
Metro is always busy when we come and we like to support local business, but I hope management takes steps to correct these issues before people stop coming...
Read moreThe food and service are fantastic!! Great plate presentation, everything fresh, tasted delicious and the service was every bit as good as our food!! We’re regulars, my wife and I, and this is our favorite place. Once you come a time or two, it will be yours as well. Misty took care of us and she didn’t miss a beat! She greeted us immediately, Drinks never went below half full, she brought extra napkins, food was delivered hot and fresh. It tasted amazing, but that’s nothing new in this place! Misty promptly performed a 2-minute check back to make sure everything was fine. She’s also a fan of pre- bussing, as am I because nobody likes dirty dishes. She removed any used dishes to make room for the main course. Every consideration was taken, every need met. This location in particular is a trend- setter and an example to other restaurants in the area about how to deliver a truly exceptional, flawless customer experience! Pete and Misty make sure they go above and beyond for customers, as do their staff, and it shows!! I would recommend this specific location of Metro Diner to anyone, friends, family, and visitors to the area. Thanks to the entire team for making us feel so welcome and appreciated. Unfortunately, it won’t let me place a rating any higher than 5 stars. If I had the option, I’d...
Read moreMe and my boo were craving some eggs benedict on this fine Monday morning. I stumbled upon Metro Diner last night while looking up places to go. It’s located in the corner of a strip of other businesses. It’s welcoming with checkerboard floors, green backlit lights, and a big cafe sign with specials written. We even saw that they had a picture of Guy Fieri visiting. Not sure if it was that specific location, but still pretty cool. I was ready to be taken to Flavortown. Lol.
We requested a booth, so it took a minute to be seated while they were cleaning. We sat down and were greeted a few moments after and ordered waters to start and some hot herbal tea. The fried chicken benedict caught our eye, so we got 2 orders of that and called it a day. Fast forward about 30 mins later, our teas never got there but the benedict plate came out hot and fresh. It looked delicious and it truly was…so I didn’t care about the tea at this point. The hollandaise was flavorful and tangy, the chicken was tender with a nice texture, and the hashbrowns in the side were perfectly crispy on top! The poached eggs were slightly overdone but still jammy, I think because everything was still so hot. Nevertheless it tasted good, so not a big issue. I got to go to Flavortown, so I was...
