Nicky's Undefeated (Cheesesteaks & Hoagies) — Restaurant in Tucker

Found this gem in Tucker when it first opened and keep finding myself coming back. As someone who grew up in Philly, came back to Philly after school, and begrudgingly ended up leaving, I'm pretty picky about my hometown food.

Their roast pork sandwich is the real deal - juicy meat, sharp provolone that doesn't hold back, and broccoli rabe with the perfect amount of garlic. This is what we actually eat in Philly, not just those cheesesteaks tourists line up for (although Nicky’s does them right). This sandwich is right up there with John’s and DiNic’s. Get it, you’re doing yourself a favor.

The Old Bay fries with cheese sauce took me right back to summers down the shore. Crispy, salty, with that distinctive Old Bay kick that hits just right. Seriously addictive.

And they have legit water ice! Not that sugary slush other places try to pass off as the real thing. Smooth, flavorful, perfect on a hot day.

What makes this place special though is how the staff treats you. The owner, Mike, is a true Philly guy and has put his blood, sweat, and tears into bringing Philly flavors to Atlanta. The whole vibe feels like a corner spot in South Philly - unpretentious, friendly, and with the Eagles Super Bowl win on repeat in the background.

I'm not sure how else to say this; the food is bad. I ordered "garlic parmesan wings" that could barely be described as food. INCREDIBLY dry, NO garlic, NO Parmesan. I've had better wings at 9:59pm from American deli. If I hadn't gotten the food to go, I would have asked for my money back, which I have never done before.

My partner got a beef cheese steak, which was also dry and chewy. Very expensive for what it was, which is a pretty ok cheese steak you could get at literally any restaurant for $5 less. Opening it to add mayo was messy and unnecessary (they only give you Mayo PACKETS you add yourself).

They also have a sign that says "NO green peppers or mushrooms" apparently as a point of pride? I'm not sure about the politics of meat filled sandwiches, but it was very disappointing, as those ingredients may have saved the meal if included.

I don't write this review to be sassy or rude. I understand this is a small business that just opened, and a lot of these issues could be solved. But as for now, you would have to pay me to go back here. There are so many other wonderful places to get meat filled sandwiches. If I were a business owner I would have been embarrassed to serve the meal we were served last week.

I will say, the atmosphere was very fun, and the employees were nice, but those things could not save my experience when the very limited opportunity I have to go out to eat monthly was wasted....

Nikki’s Undefeated? More like Nikki’s Overrated. From the jump, it was a mess—loud as hell, with the owner, Walt, yelling a customers about his favorite sports team. We had to shout to order to Brittany, the only bright spot in there.

I got a chicken cheesesteak and fries; my friend got a regular one. Simple, right? Yet, somehow, everyone who came after us got their food first. After 25 minutes, I asked what was up. Walt said our ticket didn’t print. Michael, the other owner, said chicken just “takes longer.” So which is it? Because that’s two lies back-to-back. Plus they were standing next to each other. Go figure.

When we finally got our food. Cold fries, missing fries, no apology. Just silence and more excuses. But here’s the kicker—when we asked for a to-go box, we got told, “It’s only for cheesesteaks”—while watching someone next to us get one for their cheesesteak. Make it make sense.

The food? Bland. The service? Nonexistent. The excuses? Embarrassing. A whole lot of unnecessary rules for a mid-at-best $15 cheesesteak. Never again in life. I will tell everyone I know not to visit this place. Especially my Black friends bc i dont think they want my...
