Hidden charges for mayonnaise (!?), crazy upcharge for very small coleslaw and wait staff that are either too willing to complain about their co-workers. While any business needs to earn profits this Stewart's would be well served by better management and attention to detail. Personally, I will not go to any eatery that charges $1.00 for mayonnaise (a condiment!) or pours soda into another glass after serving it with ice when it was ordered without ice. That was done right in front of me, and represents a place I will never return to.
RESPONSE: Dear "Owner", I very much appreciate your response and I will, indeed stop in and provide the input you request. When I was there, I sought a "manager" and was directed to your son. I did, briefly, address my concerns and he graciously accepted my complaint. I was not seeking a refund, but wanted to draw attention to what had happened. Unfortunately, myself and the persons I was with, were as much bewildered as angry. I will cladly explain all the details and will try to stop by this coming Tuesday following a golf outing near-by!
Today, 6-20-23 I stopped in and met with the owner. I truly felt a genuine concern and appreciation for the comments I made and the circumstances of my complaint. As the new owners of this Stewarts I felt they needed to hear what I experienced and I believe Chuck (the owner I met) and his spouse truly appreciated the input. So, I will reverse my "stay away" declaration and give the Tuckerton Stewarts...

So I rode in on a small boat & tied up at their dock, which is very nice & well-maintained. The first impression of the place from the water, is that the place is very well maintained & orderly. The facility itself is maintained far better than a few of the buildings on the paddle in from the bay.
My family and I all ordered floats, because that is the traditional specialty of the place as I understand it. The root beer & vanilla ice cream float in a frosty glads mug that I had was about as ideal as can be. My kids all had orange & vanilla floats (AKA creamsicle floats) which they loved.
The only reason this great place gets four stars from me is that the restrooms are single-occupancy, and the female members of my group had to wait in line for ten minutes to use the ladies room.
Another interesting feature of the place worth mentioning, is the handless animatronic mannequin holding a moving sign at the street entrance to the parking lot. It is both charming and a little offputting at the same time.
Also of note, the staff was...
Read moreThis past weekend, my wife and I traveled to the beach and stopped in at Stewart’s. All I have to say is if you’re at the shore or on your way down, look no further than Stewart’s for a great bite to eat. When you walk in this classic establishment, it gives you the aura that you’re back in the 1950’s. We were quickly seated at a booth that you only see on TV or in movies . The service was incredibly friendly and quick (exactly how I like it). Now onto the food. It was our first time there so we tried a bit of everything. Fries were great (nice and crispy), burger was juicy and tasted delicious, like one that you make out on your grill during a warm summer night. Philly Cheesesteak was very good considering we were ten’s of miles from the home of the Cheesesteak. Too wash it all down we got a couple of root beer floats which were made with the classic Stewart’s rootbeer. These floats truly hit the spot and I could drink one every night of the week. 10/10 would absolutely recommend Stewart’s to anyone and...
