I hate to be writing a negative review about a local coffee shop, but this is 2 bad experiences I've had now. First time ever going to Luce, I had let the employees know it was my first time. And like every other place, I went up to the register to order. They rudely told me to order off to the side. I felt pressure to know exactly what I wanted to order even though it was my first time. The set up there is very confusing and everyone expects you to know what you're doing.
That first time made me very hesitant to go back, but I decided to give it another try and I received the same exact treatment. Employees don't smile at you, don't say hello, don't try to kindly direct you, etc. I work in the food industry and I know how hard it can be, but if I am not treating you rudely, why should I receive harsh treatment? I overheard one of the employees being very rude to another customer who simply asked if they could have an extra cup.. I really wanted to support a local Tucson coffee shop but it is really hard for someone like me with anxiety to want to ever come back when I've been treated poorly for no reason each time! And I have heard about other people experiencing the same treatment as well. To be clear, the young man with the glasses has always been pretty kind to me, the middle aged man and the other young woman are the ones that have been very rude.
I doubt this review will actually do anything, but as a coffee shop on campus I would think that the energy would be more light hearted and welcoming. I've had better treatment at Panera...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe barista and the front counter lady was very short. We were sitting right beside the stairs. My fiance and I were actively listening for our drinks. We got our food and it was very good but we didnāt recieve our drinks. We waited about 25 min for our coffee (it was busy and we get that). We walked up to the counter and politely asked about our drinks. They said they had called three time and then they threw it out. The barista was very quiet and we were not able to hear her, we explained. They said āso do you want us to remake it?ā And we said yes please (again, very kindly). It was two hot coffees nothing crazy. There was no one in line at the time of us asking. They waited 5-10 minutes, more patrons came in and They took the orders and filled the orders of 10 other people before remaking our drink. Quality of product was good but Iām sorry, this service was very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my favorite cafĆ© spot in all of Tucsonā¤ļø. I find myself here at least once a week.
My go-to order is the dirty chai, which they always make just perfectly - smooth and balanced. The muffins are really good too!
The music is always calm and chill, played at just the right volume, and thereās a gentle breeze from the giant fan ( a nice addition to the AC) that adds to the comfort, a welcome escape from the Tucson heatšµāļø.
On weekdays, thereās usually little to no wait, and even on weekends or in the evenings, the service is very quick. Every barista Iāve met has been very friendly too.
Whether youāre working, journaling, catching up with a friend, or just want to people-watch across the streetš , youāll find the perfect spot to settle in at CaffĆØ Luce.
Iām just hoping they start a loyalty program by the time I begin writing my...
