I've been a big Cal supporter for some time now. I was so excited for them to finally open a brick and mortar I decided to drive 45 minutes from Oro Valley to be there 15 minutes early for their grand opening at 9am. Upon arrival at 8:45 I was pleased to see a line half way down the parking lot. By 9am the line was wrapped around the entire lot. Understandably we were informed at this time that we would only get 6 pastries per person/group. After an hour waiting in line we were informed that the limit per person was now going to be 4. Another 30 minutes later and just before entering the door we were informed the limit was now 2. No more than 5 minutes later I finally made it in to buy the Cronuts I stood in line for only to see the last ones sold two people in front of me. The reason for my poor review has nothing to do with the fact that Cal's had such a big turn out for their grand opening that I didn't get what I came for but rather the owners lack of care. I made a suggestion that they honor the grand opening discount to a future visit for those of us that waited in line and didn't get what we came for but it fell on deaf ears and neither Cal nor his brother Husky seemed to care what so ever. Reality is this small gesture would have gone a long way. I hate leaving this poor review but you would think there would be some consideration given after chasing their pastry drops all around Tucson, driving from OV, and waiting in line for an hour and half. I realize this is their first customer direct venture due to the fact they have always used other stores for all of their drops so maybe they are new to customer service and this is a learning experience. I hope they get their issues figured out so they can have lasting success but until then I won't be supporting. Those that used to get Cal's care packages from me will no longer! 😔 Good pastries but it won't matter, without customer service you won't keep customers. Good luck!

BIG SUPPORT TO A SMALL BUSINESS THATS BEEN IN THE WORKS. It’s incredible to see what a turnout there was in support of such an amazing baker as Cal. I was so proud to see that there was a line and only the people dedicated to support a small business that deserves all of the praise are those who showed up and didn’t complain about the wait. Yes! I said it! Those who truly support small business owners and small businesses especially one that is up and coming like Cal’s Bakeshop are those that are dedicated to show up and admire the wait, admire that the pastries are selling out and that business is BOOMING. THIS IS GOOD. Cal’s Bakeshop deserves all the business and the wait should there be one because these items that they give really are one of a kind in Tucson! Vegan friendly, unique, delicious pastries that I was so happy to get the opportunity to wait in line for! I made sure to get here early as I well expected there would be a line-up and I am so proud that it was bigger than I first anticipated. Cal and Husky deserve it! Always been a great supporter to Cal since day one! I’m so exited to see the brick and mortar has finally arrived! Atmosphere is great and so was the service. Yes the wait was long outside but the service was fast-paced inside. Got my drinks and pastries seamlessly after ordering. Personal favorites in the drinks is their Ube Latte and Sweet Emotion. I’m sure pastries are likely to change. While I had the opportunity to try their delectable Nutella Croissant there might be another exciting option at a later date. I’ve tried so many different ones it’s hard to choose a favorite as they all are as delicious as the last one. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating that accommodates 10 customers inside and 12 customers outside. There is plenty of free parking and handicap parking is available. Absolutely worth the visit! Thank you Cal for bringing your incredible vegan friendly pastries to Tucson.

You must show up early preferably within an hour of opening because they sell out pretty fast. This is unfortunate for a bake shop. I can only go off what I was able to try and what was available around 8:30 am (3 types of conchas). Definitely will rate again if I could ever get there early. The description that I could give for the concha was it was like eating texas road house rolls with the sugary crunch top! Not too bad but can be improved. The bakery should make more of the donuts since that is the staple of their shop plus include the price for the items on a menu not just online. Thought they would learn from there soft opening. Hopefully they improve with time and learn from their sale statistics. Will definitely give this another try in the future! Nothing but love !

Unimpressed and highly disappointing experience. 😒 We stopped in on 10/25/2025 @ 7:30am when they opened. Just a few people already lined up outside. Cal was there making fresh hot drinks. We were let down by the minimal selection available. We got 1 apple & cinnamon cronut along with 1 lemon & berry cronut. The dough for both was not flavorful. Both cronuts had filling that tasted nothing like the descriptions, just like a custard. There was no posted prices for any items in the store. 😑 We paid $13.00 for the two cronuts. The flow of the store seems backwards because the line backs up at the front door as soon as there are more than 1 person lined up. The vibes of this store were uninviting. Now we can say we tried it, but we can also say that we won't be back to support...
