Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Tucson

First and last time visitor. Parking was nice, right up front, easy in and easy out. Parking availability is apparently dependent entirely on timing. Building appeared in good order and free of any noticable defects. Dining room was warm and inviting. Order line was long but moved surprisingly quickly. It's a fast pace operation. Friendly helpful staff taking food orders. Abundant inviting menu choices. Lag time from ordering to presentation of food was minimal at best. It appears an assembly line process for food that seemingly works well. Food was hot and fresh. A word of caution, the sweet pork should read SWEET pork. It was beyond the joke, sugar with some pork and wasn't exactly what l was looking forward to. By this time the line was too long to go ask for something remotely appealing. Perhaps the staff should taste test what they serve to prevent this? I really felt since there was zero issues with my payment there should zero issue with the food but that was apparently an unrealistic expectation. My dinner companion thought her food was equally overly sweet. Chips and salsa were good. Overall l found the food to be noticably pricey for what you get, additionally it was excessively SWEET and disappointing. I came, l tried and I'm good. The food here is great. I wish I could have given this place a higher rating. But my experience recently was so frustrating that it leads me to write this review. I visited at about 6:45pm on the night of January 1st. They didn't seem too busy, as there was only one customer in front of me. The employee finished putting together her meals, while I waited while other employees were putting together meals for what must have been take-out orders. The woman who helped the other customer then parked herself at the cash register while the men who were making the other meals, and who were right in front of me, never even looked up. Finally, I spoke up--after literally staring at this operation for 15 minutes. Only then did the man finish making my order. By then, was fumed and needed to eat quickly, since I had some place to be. As I was eating, I noticed that they must have finished up with those "to-go" orders, as there was no employee making meals, and no one in line. In other words, they really did seem to put call-in orders WAY ahead of the orders of the people in line, such as myself. To the manager of this restaurant: as a patron, the only thing worse than waiting unnecessarily is feeling that I am invisible to your staff. Wow, I really did feel invisible at that visit. On 6/6/24 I arrived at 8p. The girl at the cashier looked at me as if they were closing. So I asked her what time that they close at and she said 9:00 p.m. . So I was thinking why does she look so unhappy to see customers coming inside. I ordered my food and the guy that was putting the plate together was very friendly and nice. Then I went to pay and the look on the girls face was so unhappy or unpleased that I almost did not tip. But I took to anyways because the guy that helped me was nice. After we had gotten our drinks she started to drain out the horchata lemonade and strawberry. And I was thinking we still have another hour of being open and now we can't get any refills on our drinks. After that a bunch of customers kept pouring in the door and I was thinking wow now that she emptied all these drinks none of those new customers can get the most popular drinks. I think it was so rude that she got rid of the drinks before closing time. It almost seemed like she didn't want to be there. If that's okay she should just ask to go home early or something because it made my experience there not as good and that's why I gave a four star instead of a five star which is really...
