Twice a week, my truck and I prowl these 5am streets meditating on the meaning of life through contradictory lenses of cynicism and hope whilst gazing through the plumes of cigarette smoke at the other poor, quiet morning souls; dead-eyed and dragging their obligations with them to some forsaken, desert location while the rest of society is lucky enough to still be lying in a bed of temporal bliss until the screams of electronic alarm banshees jerk them back into the perpetual hellfire we call modern society.
Then I see it. The glimmer of hope. The big blue windmill. The reliable oasis of delicious caffeination and unadulterated purity. Every time I pull up to the window, the overwhelming aura of joy and serenity basks my battered and sleep deprived body in a wash of white light and the window cherubs who may or may not be dutch let alone male siblings look me in my devil red eyes and inquire into the state of my personal countenance. Anywhere else, my entire being would recoil in the horror of having to converse with another soul at such an ungodly hour. But here: Nay. Tis holy ground. After about 30 seconds of philosophical generalities and profound discoveries, I am handed my tall, icy cup of beige bliss complete with 5 shots of extra espresso, a smile and a farewell before the wheels roll back into darkness. But no longer is the darkness safe. For now I am the light. I will fear no evil: for Brother's Dutch art with me; thy straw and thy cup they comfort me.
Also, I'm happy they speak English and not Dutch. I've had some bad experiences with the Dutch. These brothers are the ONLY...
Read moreLet me just start by saying I love dutch and this location is my "home" location, I always come a few times a month. Never had any problems. But yesterday, for October sticker day, I checked my order in the app to see the price about $20, but when I got to the store and placed my order at the walk up window, 2 small Caramel pumpkin freezes, 1 small picture perfect and a kids size candied cherry fizz, the broista with long blond hair(sorry, not sure of her name) she took my order and when she told me the price it was over $25, didn't think too much about it then, but as I was waiting by the window, I saw a male broista putting my drinks in the drink carrier and then he checked the tablet and looked at the drinks again, as if something was wrong, then he asked something to the girl who took my order and made the drinks and they spoke quietly for a moment, he must have asked her how much I paid because I heard her say $25 and then got real quiet and when I tried to ask if there was something wrong he just called my name and gave me my order. So when I finally had a moment I contacted Dutch bros through their chat and turns out the girl charged me for mediums but made me smalls, so that must have been what the guy noticed the discrepancy between what he had in front of him and what I was charged for, but they gave me the order as is, and didn't fix their mistake. The Dutch bros guy Joel that I spoke to in the chat made it right, though. So just be cautious of what you get vs what...
Read moreThe Dutch Bros Coffee itself is still fantastic BUT this location has a very wonky drive thru...and, since that is eveything that this chain is, that's a problem. The entrance of of Speedway has both an entrance and exit only sign. So, when you turn in you have to make a very sharp turn to the right and because there is a curb, you are watching for parked cars, cars coming out of drive thru, then potential cars coming from other way (it's open to those cars as well). I actually hit the curb when over correcting to avoid those hazards. Then you have to make a quick left to get into the drive thru lane. Once there you are fine and the service and coffee is (as usual across the board) amazing. I mentioned the driving and parking situation and the employee agreed with me and this was an obvious issue that has been raised before. Again, no shade to the shop itself or the employees, just a poorly designed plan for a drive thru for a chain that relies on that design as a...
