Service has gone completely downhill since me and mom used to take my grandma here... Due to transportation issues I had to walk over half way back to mom's house from downtown (pet sitting, I had gone dancing for a few hours) so I was exhausted. I was almost to mom's house and smelled the donuts and saw the sign said open so I came in. The guy was confused so I mentioned the sign and very politely asked if I should leave or not and was totally comfortable regardless of the answer. He called a lady to the counter she asked what I wanted and I asked how much a powdered donut was. I am slightly hard of hearing but apparently having to ask her to repeat herself more than once (I was apologizing and being extremely polite the entire time, too..) got me from her just having a bad attitude to treating me as if I were stupid and as if I were garbage. She VERY rudely said ONE. EIGHT. THREE. and I thanked her and not only paid for my donut in cash, I TRIED to leave $1 tip (tried because she walked away and pretended I didn't exist). Yes, a $1 tip for a $1.83 donut despite her behaving that way and treating me like scum.
If you don't care how you are treated then the food is good. Call me a Karen or Felicia all you want, but I'd much rather make my own than go somewhere with people who behave so unprofessionally and treat their customers like that. People are human. It's a reasonable mistake for a customer to make to miss the hours sign if your big "We're open" sign says that you are open right on the door.. Especially if they're exhausted and just want an easy delicious treat after a long ordeal..
I hope it one day goes back to what it was when Grandma was alive. Welcoming, enjoyable, and safe.
Fortunately the donut was still high quality, so have at it if you don't mind being expected to be flawless and being treated like crap if you, God forbid, go in when the sign says open (and be careful about having hearing issues too, since she seems to assume hearing issues mean you lack intelligence).
Check yourself, lady. You're working a job. Be professional, especially to those who gave you the benefit of the doubt several times while there and were extra cordial.
Five stars for the food, one star for Mrs....
Read moreI started jumping around Tucson trying different donut shops (trying to get away from the chain places), and I have to say the donuts here are out of this world. Absolutely phenomenally good. I grabbed a Bacon Maple Bar, and the savory, sweet, airy perfect blend satisfied my tastebuds I was contemplating making another trip for a dozen of those alone. I finished up with a chocolate covered cream filled and this is where the donuts really made me smile. Most chain places will load the cream with sugar and barely put enough in to get a bite of chocolate, pastry and cream. My hat's off to Po, every bite was better than the last and I could've shed a tear when I ate the last bite and was full.
That's only the beginning. I dropped by after work at 5am to be greeted by awesomely nice people that were happy to strike up conversation and really see eye to eye with their customer. Hands down, no where else will be getting any of my businesses. I can't wait to try the rest of what they have to offer. Thanks Po, great chatting with you and...
Read moreOkay I literally just left this place no more than 5 minutes ago and I loved my experience so much that I had to hurry up and write my review. I'm from the midwest and I'm used to creme or whipped filled long johns and a very authentic tasting dough with a very good tasting chocolate frosting. (Not cheap, overly sweet and fake tasting) Let me tell you, I purchased 3 donuts from a donut wheel shop and literally threw a fit at home, threw them away and headed out to find something better. This place is it!! Very friendly and happy and they talk to you like they have known you forever! They didn't initially have the long johns filled but they def offered to fill them with cream since they only had custard filled. They will fill them if you ask them!! I love these people already. I recognize good and genuine people immediately and the doughnuts seriously were as soft as butter, FRESH and DELICIOUS. Freshness, I honestly didn't expect and was okay with as it was about 10:45 in the morning but I am def. happy with my decision...
