I stopped by here after a dr appointment to grab some lunch before I went back to work. I was in uniform and the lady checking me out asked for help to find something When asked to clarify she said she needed help finding the military discount. A man came up and told her that they don’t do discounts for military. He then gave me a look like I had demanded one and said that he guesses that they will today but continued to scold her in front of me because of those. when she tried to tell him someone had told her something different than what he stated he was condescending and Said that the person wasn’t a manager. After that my interaction with her seemed strained and I apologized as I did not come in with the intention of getting a discount and I didn’t mean for her to get into trouble either. Young man at the counter when I approached said what do you want I gave my order and he said anything else and I said yeah I have a phone number with you guys. Can I put that in I have a free sub and he said with an annoyed look on his face ,hit the X button on pin pad and I said oh sorry, no it’s OK or don’t apologize just said hit the button. I did that and still no offer getting my sub discounted. I said I have a free sub and he said it’s not showing up and I said it’s in my rewards isn’t that how I do it and I said it’s in the app I’ve always been able to do that. He’s like no you haven’t. It’s never worked that way, I’ve been a loyal fan of Firehouse Subs and now I’ve been able to redeem it through my app in store and therefore I will never go this location again. Read moreI dislike going here not because the food isn’t good, it’s good, but because their customer service skills are terrible.
It’s as if they don’t want to work there or are hired because they’re competent for the positions they occupy but that’s where their skillset lies for that position behind the counter.
Some of them don’t have the necessary greeting skills or questioning skills to find out if I placed an order online or if I’m there to place an order. I usually have to initiate the conversation to see if they can sell me some of their products.
Usually the morning and afternoon crews are the one’s who’ve I’ve experienced this with, I can’t speak to the evening crew.
They really need a lot of training on what good customer service skills looks like and what bad customer service skills look like.
