Right away we noticed the positive friendly attitudes from everyone working here including the kitchen staff. You could hear them singing and every time an order was up you heard: Hey! But more on that later. My wife had the beef pho and my daughter seafood pho. We have been to many many places in several states and we have to say this pho is good. Not kinda of good but really really good. I am not a fan of pho but I drank my wife's and daughters left overs. The next time we go I am getting the pho. I had the orange chicken. There were several other things on the menu I wanted but I happened to want orange chicken today. The waitress started off with a warning. She said this orange chicken is really crispy and it's not like other restaurants. She said some people don't like it. When it came out it was amazing and the Jasmine rice sooo good. I ate it all and I don't understand the complaints. It wasn't chewy but just the right amount of crunch. The food came out in 5 min and it was hot. As soon as we sat down the staff brought water with a wedge of lemon. Even the water was good. My daughter ordered a Boba drink. It was so fresh I ordered one to go after. For dessert we had fried banana with honey and whipped cream. We shared it and it was gone in 2.6 seconds. Even the whipped cream was not from a tub and it had a distinct taste but was delicious. The staff was really attentive and did not let the sauce in the little cups run low. A man that looked like he was a cook came out and looked around to see if everyone was happy. Pride of ownership and ones work. I liked that. After dinner a man named Lin came over and asked us if we enjoyed our meal and was very interested if anything could be better. Everything was excellent. Thank you and we will...
Read moreUtterly fresh and delicious food made with pride and care by wonderful staff. My husband and I relish the meals we've had at Ha Long Bay for nearly 20 years now. Their phó is absolutely the best we've had in our travels around the States. Absolutely the best Vietnamese restaurant in Arizona. Their food is magical. Their phở is the most complex and consistently delicious I've ever tasted. While their classic 'Ha Long Bay Special' phở is perfection I recommend the 'Exotic Hue Spicy Beef' ($8) a phở-based beef broth with lemon grass, fried shallots, and a mellow-hot chili oil with meatballs and rare beef served with fresh mint, mung bean sprouts, cilantro, lime wedges, and sliced serrano chilis to tailor your taste. It's a huge bowl of complex, light broth and rice noodles which is just hot enough to kick up your endorphines.
Their traditional and 'gourmet' dishes never fail to impress. Of particular note is the delicious Fish with Curry Sauce, ($13) a sizable portion of tempura-like battered white fish in a bright yellow curry with fresh vegetables, chicken satay, rice, and a crisp napa cabbage slaw. My husband and I have had their Curry Basil Chicken ($8.50) and knew that dish was wonderful but were curious as to how it would work with fish. The answer, we found, was 'perfectly'.
I could go on and on about this gem of a place but suffices to say we have never had a bad meal or experience here for 20 years and have brought dozens of friends here who were unanimously pleased and impressed.
Don't be afraid to ask the wonderful servers for suggestions. They are more than happy to guide you through the expansive menu to those dishes that you're sure to enjoy!
Much fierce...
Read moreCame here on Christmas Eve. Food was great.
Service was also very good.
It was busy and atmosphere was fine.
However, I got the feeling based on several questions regarding how many plates I ordered, and their curiosity at a single, mid-30's male with long hair(although dressed very sharply as always) that they weren't sure I was there in good faith, and uncertain that I would pay.
I don't have solid evidence that was going through their heads beyond that, but that was the strong feeling I got. And I never get that feeling and have never made a review saying as much.
Next time please just let me order as I wish, don't bother me about what I'm ordering and why, and I'll literally order twice as much as I did, and pay for it all, as I always have my entire life.
Don't profile your customers that way if you want to keep them. I probably won't be back, but they do Vietnamese food well, and overall I...
