Saw the great reviews and drove 45 minutes to eat at Luckie's. And it was totally worth it, the food was fantastic!
It's owned by a Thai lady (more on her later) and has a large menu with Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese cuisine to choose from.
You order at the front with the cashier and he was really laid back and friendly. Then they bring it to your table.
The kids ordered a large bowl of beef pho and liked it so much they ordered a second bowl. My wife and I got the massaman curry and pad Thai, both with chicken.
Then I couldn't hold back and ordered a Thai style papaya salad (they also have Laos style which apparently uses a stronger more pungent fish sauce) with shrimp and crab. I ordered it extra spicy and it was perfect!
All of the food portions were very large with generous amounts of chicken in the curry and noodles, and large beautiful prawns nicely cleaned and deveined (something that is not standard practice but very welcome). The crabs in the papaya salad were fresh but different, not really my taste so I probably wouldn't order with those again.
For drinks we had Thai tea that includes boba (tapioca jelly) which my wife loves. These were served in large to-go cups which is unusual since most of the time they are served in small glasses and you have to sip on them to ration the drink...so it was nice for a change to drink as much as you want to satisfaction.
For desert we ordered the fried bananas and OMG they are so tasty and delicious! We ordered a second batch and we're absolutely stuffed at the end of the meal.
The owner, Boon, and her husband are both extremely friendly and attentive which really adds to the friendly and casual ambiance of the restaurant. It makes you feel like you're dinner guests eating at their house.
At the end of our meal, we felt like family and hugged Boon goodbye. Such a great experience, we can't wait to go back and try the rest of the items.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves and appreciates authentic Thai...
Read moreThis incident happened at about a little after 1:00 in the afternoon on March the 8th 2023 over the phone. I'm not accustomed to handing out lower reviews for anybody and I hate the thought of it, but I had tried ordering a few orders of spring rolls from the fella over the phone. This should have been an open and shut case. I already knew given the fact that every other restaurant is the same that peanut sauce comes with these orders. I simply wanted to get fish sauce extra added on the side and then suddenly it was a huge breakdown and he didn't understand simply what I was saying. I essentially said that there should be three sauces in the whole order and not two fish sauces in place of the peanut sauce. A complete order would have been two peanut sauces and one fish sauce making it three sauces for the whole order. The young kid taking my order sounded a bit rude about the whole ordeal. Initially I wasn't going to leave this review and the man even was hoping that a bad review wouldn't be left as to clear everything up which is what I tried to do. However that is not the case this time. I'm sure the food is wonderful but the service that I received on the phone was subpar, disrespectful, and unacceptable. When somebody gives you an order like that in the future, be sure to ask if it's three sauces all together or something of that...
Read moreNo. If you're asian or wish to retain any sensibility and standards, please avoid. The "chow mein" was like a stir fry slop (it was REALLY slimy??) and there was hardly noodle mostly just bamboo slivers vegetables and boiled beef. Plus the "chow mein" had an option to be made with crispy noodles... CRISPY NOODLES IN CHOW MEIN?????????? The pad see ew was choppy hunks of rice noodle sliding around in a generic tasting soy sauce broth, nothing like the thick sticky pad see ew noodles I know. Pad thai was okay, it was relatively bland a bit sticky and a bit on the lime side, not really a little bit salty as it typically is. They at least use the correct manilla mangos for their sticky rice, but the rice could be softer. Place seems like a Starbucks chai latte with cashew milk yoga practitioner trying to profit off of the concept of providing exotic asian food to an otherwise non asian dominant city, and taking advantage of asian culture inexperience. However, we did walk away very amused about the entire experience all these different dishes gave us. It sucks that this place that's supposed to represent a great aspect of asian culture falls pretty damn short. You're better off enjoying panda express for chinese food. For thai...
