Murphys Public House — Restaurant in Tucson

I was here for St Patty's day with my wife and a friend. We enjoyed drinks on the patio for a few hours. The drinks were good and 2 of the 3 bar tenders I dealt with were great, very helpful and quick to serve drinks. At the end of the night I signed for my tab- left a 20 dollar tip and was headed out when I noticed a few drinks I didn't order on my tab. So we talked with the bartender, she met us in the middle and agreed to remove a couple of the extra drinks, not all of them but a couple of the ones we didnt order.

From there it went all down hill, I was waiting for my card and updated bill, when I see the bar tender dart outside after my wife so I followed and this female bartender was accusing us of fraud, saying I turned off my card after she voided the first bill, which I didn't, and I was charged twice for. I was called a scammer, she said I was too broke to pay for my drinks, then said she was calling the cops on me while refusing to give me my card back. I eventually told them give me my card, they were keeping my property and I would call the cops on them.

They gave me my card, called me a broke piece of s*, and told me to never come back. I'm even attaching both times they charged me as proof that I'm not some butt hurt customer. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it was a great time up until this horrible event at the end...

Terrible experience. This type of shady business deserves to be shut down. The female bartender gave me the wrong drink twice. At no point was I made aware the card reader is down. After a few drinks I went to pay my tab with John who took over for the previous bartender. I’m then told I have to pay cash, which I didn’t have on me. I explained I wouldn’t have continued to rack up a tab had I known the reader was down. John said this was not his problem that the previous bartender didn’t tell me and I would be charged as a walk out if I didn’t pay. Understandably upset now having to pay an ATM fee, I told John I would leave a bad review at which point he stated they would just take it down and he didn’t care. I am very close to posting a one star review simply based on the atmosphere presented in this establishment. However, since I have only been here once, and it was for a Christmas party, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. For being such a small place, the noise pollution was so loud I could not comfortably yell/speak to my friends. The sound system is of poor quality and the music is muffled and drowned out by the yelling. Just being in the building is a battle between guests and the noise generated. The aesthetic is lazily done and haphazard, it seems more like this business is run out of a spare room in someone's private living quarters. Which may be the case for all I know. It was rather dark inside and I could not see fine detail, but I got the vibe that cleanliness was not really a priority of this...
